The Peter Smith Memorial Regatta
The PSMR now in its second year as a sailing regatta for the DF65 restricted sailing class of Radio Controlled yacht.
This event celebrates the Puddleduck Vinyard Founder and his family through a one day sailing regatta held on the Vineyard pond each year.
Due to our groups wishes the regatta will not be a ranked or sanctioned event however an invitation to compete will be made to all Tasmanian clubs and individuals.
Also this year it will not be held conjointly with the Tasmania Summer Series, instead it’s to be a stand alone, one day regatta scheduled for Saturday 7th March with no starts after 3pm. At the conclusion of races a short grace period will be observed for drinks and discussion before prize giving gets underway.
Puddleduck management are most generous in making the verandah control area available again, pumping lots of water into the pond over the week prior to reduce weed activity and also donating wine prizes and trophy engraving for the winner.
The Regatta will be sailed on the pond at Puddleduck Vineyard
992 Richmond Road
All residents and visitors who sail an approved DF65 Restricted Class Radio Controlled yacht are eligible to enter.
The Regatta is one day event to be sailed on Saturday 7th March 2020.
Registration: 9am to 9.30am
First Race gets underway 10am
No races will commence after 3pm
A break for lunch, will be taken at the discretion on the PRO and served seated on the verandah/control area.
This event is a ‘friendly’ non-ranking event however the racing rules of sailing still apply to ensure the enjoyment and fairness of the competition is maintained at all times.
Local Rules apply and will be explained at the briefing or prior.
Competitors are asked to observe these rules and take penalties as soon as practical following an infringement. This means not fouling other craft whilst taking penalties as further penalties will apply should this occur.
All competitors are requested to respect our hosts and their customers through a display of sportsmanship, courteous and considerate behaviour. This should include no shouting, swearing or abusive behaviour of any kind or at any time throughout the regatta.
The appointed PRO’s decisions and opinions on the day will be final and no protests or redress following them is permitted. Further, the PRO will decide the course to be sailed and make any decision on shortened or altered courses should they see fit at any time.
The outer verandah will be roped off and form the skippers and officials control area.
Other than the launching and retrieval of craft all skippers are required to remain in this area whilst sailing.
