Well Hello Flying Gang, nice to be again posting flying days….
Today “Thursday” is looking spot of for our first fly at our very own airfield now known as “The Field” with a balmy 24deg, sunny with little or no wind so flyers come along and lets christen our new field with no tree magnets.. well Moose will find one?, and no stupid fences and heaps of flat space.
Our new field is gated as was the farm so we really require flyers to be at the gate or close by around 11am, however as we can see the gate no real drama there. Our arrangement with the owners/farmer is that we have to contact the farmer each time when we are flying due to local neighbour watch and other reasons which we won’t go into, the gates have to be closed/locked behind us due to sheep in the area and we intend to do the right thing as this is a great flying area and we have no intention to upset the owners/farmer.
As this field is in view of the roadway it could be expected that on occasions the public may stop for a look and we don’t want them wandering in so that’s one of the main reasons for the gates being locked . Mike and I are the only key holders as per our arrangement and one of us will contact the farmer on our arrival. We also don’t want any of our gang entering the property (jumping the fence) and possibly damaging fences without one of the keyholders present for the reasons stated above. This is a great area for us and especially for our “L” platers so lets do the right thing I know we will. We also have the use of a shed which will be great when tarted up a bit so we might have a working bee to get things in order there but it looks a great room for us to use. (Check Mikes video he posted)
Another thing to mention, all flying notifications will only be posted here from now so it’s up to our gang to check here regularly for updates and or cancellations etc, I’ll send out the latest flyers email after this is posted which will be my last gang email unless any gang members require info not to be made public on this forum.
Also Mike and I along with all the gang members hope that anyone attending will post a reply so we have an idea of numbers, also we do invite any RCT gang members whether sailors or flyers or any of our sailing brothers who would like a go at flying , Mike our poor old hard worked, stressed, bad tempered, unofficial unelected, pressganged CFO (Chief Flying Instructor) can bring a buddy box system for a T.I.F flight (Trial Introductory Flight) but he does require notification on this forum so the appropriate gear can be brought along on the day . I’m available to assist the “P” Platers if required….mmmm ? This is also a great area for flying FPV if anyone would like a demo of flying a model from the cockpit or just watch on through the goggles here’s your chance, it’s kind of weird just like flying a real aircraft but seated firmly on the ground.
We would encourage any members of our flying gang to join RCT so they can use this forum to comment and share, also we highly recommend our 3rd party insurance policy especially for the flyers which is at the low cost of $10 pa….
The best news is: “Flight Line Café” will be up and open for business.
So gang there you have it should be good fun in a fantastic flying field… See you there

Thursday is out for me, already committed to going to Puddleduck sailing IOM’s
Oh well Gerald, always next time, still waiting to see your new Paramotor take to the skies.
Given that its supposed to be such a nice day we may well still be there when you return from The Duck. Would be worth a phone call to check if you are interested.
Uncle G….🤔
Just to clarify a couple of items from above;
1) Property lessee needs to be notified in advance BEFORE we arrive
2) To take advantage of the Public Liability insurance provided by our affiliation with the MMACA you need to be paid up members of RCToysTasmania or one of the other MMACA affiliated clubs eg Marine Modellers group etc. You can’t have one without the other.
3) The lessee has been informed that ALL flyers at The Field have $20M Public Liability insurance cover so if you are not sure read 2) above.
Once we get the old shed cleaned up (Kermit has volunteered to bring a gen set & vacuum but I’m sure he will like a hand) the Flight Line Cafe will be able to operate Rain, Hail or Shine so that should be a bonus
I will be there probably with the Bix 2 “Predator” & the Skyclimber “Phoenix” so I will bring the Buddy Box along in case its needed for any new flyers or old ones that want to freshen up their skills.
I’ll be there with the Bixler fpv and just may give the twin a whirl with sausage in hand not at the same time, well could try..
Well Folks I must congratulate you on your achievement regarding the Flying Field.
I wont make the first flight as I still have a few problems but hopefully I will make the Next
And Mike I am placing my request early for training lessons
I think it’s a great idea posting on the site all members can comment Flyers or not no one should feel left out.
Well that’s about my lot
Oh by the way Ross I had no idea you that smart or was It Mike’s doing
Bye for now Ross and I know you will get even
Thanks Moose and no its all the BA’s doing, he really is a smart little Bad Angel when he gets motivated.
Noted about the flying lessons, I think a few flights with the Bix 2 will be in order before you test than new big beastie of yours.
Shouldn’t be any problem to set up a Buddy Box system on your new radio so we can continue Buddy Box training on the new beast when you are happy to try her out.
Moose for your information I have a very very long memory and will strike back when you least expect it…
Hi everyone, it was great to read the news about “The Field”.
I won’t be able to make it this Thursday as the ‘tourist’ / walking season has got underway earlier than usual this year and I will be driving every day through to Sunday this week.
I don’t have a roster yet covering the following weeks so I will just have to keep an eye on here.
Enjoy your fly-in.

Ok looking good for at least five flyers in attendance for our blessing of the Field… blessing I hear you say maybe a crash or two for the funnies of the day….
Girls, are you batteries charged……
Charging underway and don’t forget your camera batteries & FPV screen batteries as well.
All done and have also repaired the Bix’s undercarriage at last..
Very good, we may need to mow a small landing strip (well at least for takeoffs) so as not to wreck your landing gear again
Yeah
The whipper snipper may do the job will check it out tomorrow for future to see what’s required other that the tractor …
I reckon we only need a small landing strip (or two at right-angles) so the whipper snipper or a standard mower should do the job just fine.
Generator and vac ready and loaded plane loaded drone loaded kermit loaded play time weeeeeeeeeee
Wow Froggy…locked and loaded I see some great video happening on this near perfect fly-in today, also locked and loaded here..
Whacko! Great day ahead…….hot glue available for casualties!
