Whilst we are continuing to fly @ The Field by no longer entering the “Humpy” with more that one or two persons at a time & maintaining the appropriate social distancing on the Flight Line along with any other measures deemed appropriate by the authorities I doubt if the same can be done with our regular Saturday Sail – In’s @ the Lauderdale Canal.

The Flying Field is a private property with a locked gate so any interaction with the public is virtually non existent, however with the Canal area & in particular the Jetty & Pontoon being a public recreation area, interaction with members of the public is pretty much inevitable.

Whilst with a bit of care & attention the skippers could organise themselves on the jetty/pontoon area to keep the appropriate distance from one another we have no control on members of the public (many of whom still seen to have no idea, or no care about the requirements for Social Distancing rules currently in force).

I think that as a group it would be prudent to abstain from RC sailing on Saturdays, at least as a group. What individual members choose to do is entirely up to them.

I for one will stay away for the time being & see what eventuates over the coming weeks. I guess once the infection rate decreases (hopefully soon now that the borders are closed – or in Tassie’s case, the drawbridge is up) we can review the situation.

The above are purely my thoughts on the matter and do NOT necessarily reflect the opinions of others within the group.
