Stephen excelled today with his pick on the weather, yes it was cold but at least the sun was shining & there was little wind and no rain.

We had 6 pilots brave the cold and all got plenty of flying in.

I had 3 Wings that had been converted to ELRS receivers that all needed testing and apart from a few first launch issues with the “Wild Wing” (my problem for removing the presets when I re programmed it) all flew well & all the telemetry worked as it should.

Also flew the Bixler 2 Sport (now also on ELRS) and the ZOHD Altus. Not sure what happened with the Altus landing, I could say a freaky cross wind but it probably was just down to operator error so I guess I’ll just have to wear that one. No damage luckily.

Ron managed to finally write off his BeerBox Spitfire, but it has lasted far longer than a lot of foam or Balsa birds so good going Ron.

Stephen flew his big noisy Boomerang & a couple of much quieter electric models. Now he has a new radio & a box of receivers I’m sure he will be turning up with new planes in the near future.

Kermit tried some parachute dropping (as he often does) only to once again get a Chute release line wrapped around a prop on his Phantom, bringing it crashing to the ground.

Gerald was testing some super soft (inflatable) tyres on his plane, I think I may need to get a pair for my Draco and perhaps also the Sky Mule. Certainly stop the bounce on landing.

DaveP managed to lose his ZOHD Dart but luckily his eagle eyed wife found it for him after Dave’s fruitless search.

Kermit, as usual, cooked up some fine BBQ fare for everyone, but most of the talk over lunch was what to do about PL insurance cover for our flying activities.

Thankfully it appears as if the MMACA (in partnership with AMAS) look like they have resolved the issue.

Well Gerald, your new wheels/tyres were of such quality that I thought they deserved a close up look.

Kermit, this is what you want for your parachute drops.

He even does his repairs like you – rough
