And what a fine day it was, picked by Scott (who only turned up at meal time & missed most of the fun)
The BIG topic for today was Ross (aka Sheep Shagger, formerly Bad Angel & soon to be Milk Crate – if the boys @ the field have their way).
He actually turned up on time (and it was his birthday none the less) and apart from forgetting his chair & his lunch, he did manage to have all his required RC gear to maiden his recently fitted out Sky Climber Glider, with its never tried Mode 3 setup (to get around his stuffed right hand), new SpeedyBee F405 wing Mini FC & a new FPV setup.
He managed a full 15 minute flight, first with LOS & then FPV and all went according to plan. No doubt Ross will have an onboard video for us once he gets it edited. He was planning a second flight but the weather got a bit windy so he gave it a miss.
Gerald “Sinker” maidened his Altus VTOL plane today and by all accounts it also went off without a hitch. I was otherwise occupied (assisting Ross) and missed it so guess I’ll need to wait for the video.
Kermit had the “Big Greenie” flying again today and she flew well (video below) until whilst attempting a high speed loop & roll there was a big crack followed by a lot of flapping (Kermit swears it was Ralph the resident eagle up to his mischief) and Big Greenie spiraled into the ground, this time never to rise again.
I had a quick fly with Ross’s Mode 3 Glider (just to check the installation all worked) and then a few laps with the ZOHD & a battery or two with the “Li’l Eagle” biplane, all came home as they arrived, intact.
The GG had a mishap with his Cessna but at least his glider flew well.
Phil “Fab” flew a couple of his Bixlers & DaveP flew his mini quad.
As per usual Kermit supplied his “Road Kill” bbq lunch that was enjoyed by all.
Scott arrived late but at least managed a few laps with his “Wots Wot”.

Thanks, Kermit for the barbecue and entertainment.

YEP R16 WAS FOUND ON THE SECOND HILL looking from a section of high ground I deduced these particular two trees were the ones we could see from the field first tree the highest had very thick branches but no r16 so I went higher up the hill an let me tell you that bloady hill is steep next highest was a no go so I decended to the lower tree next to tree one an buggar me first thing spotted was the yellow tip wing then from around the rear half of the tree was the other parts scattered around a 30 ft section but no fuselage so looking into the thick foliage hanging from a fork branch was the body just hangin aroung I then had to go an bring the bus to the tree an erect the flag pole to its full extent then r16was on terra firma thanks to all who have searched an to the sinker for his drone search an to predator who indicated the trees were the ones to look at although we looked at the wrong tall two trees on the wrong hill but in essence correct ta all …………………………………………………………just sayn

Well if Bad Angel didnt crash that is a miracle especially flying Mode 3; Kermit crash is to be expected however.Maybe he should also switch to Mode 3. Im not flying in Philippines as its sailing season here and two floating bars to sail to.
Nice videos today guys. I belong to the Australian Electric Flight Assoc for over 25 years and they have casual comps and a good Easter rally this year being West Wyalong NSW. See https://aefanet.com/
My wife is back in Hobart and I hope to pop back this year for a while.
