After a slow start to the week the weather gradually improved & Wednesday through to Friday were all good fly days.

Fab flew on his lonesome on Wednesday before heading up north for a few days, the rest of us chose Friday.

There was no rain and only light winds till after lunch and even though the temperature showed 17 degrees if felt decidedly cooler with the breeze.

There was a good turn up (9 from memory) and all eager to fly after all the wet & windy days of late.

Rian maidened a little Mustang he purchased from AliEp and it flew exceptionally well. He also got some airtime with his FPV plane but it wasn’t flying too well today.

GG maidened his 3D printed Zero which sounded a bit rough but flew rather fast until it didn’t!! You must be gentle with printed planes GG, they don’t like rough landings.

I piked out maidening my 3D Zero as when compared to the other two it was slightly tail heavy, I’ll fix it this week & be good to go next time we fly. I did however get air time with my ZOHD Altus, Bixler 2 Sport & the ever popular BumbleBee glider. All went well & I got a bit of onboard footage from a couple of flights.

Stephen flew his big IC powered Boomerang as well as a couple of electric planes.

Kermit flew his large Carbon Cub (well tried to) but once again had battery issues so barely got off the ground before breaking it’s beautiful wooden prop.

Ron flew his 3D printed Zero (always flies well) & his Tundra while Gerald showed off his menagerie of 3D printed RC toys before getting some airtime with his Eyas Eagle.

As usual Kermit treated us to his famous “Road Kill Cafe” BBQ for lunch & Stephen’s wife supplied some of her lovely chutney for the BBQ delights, thanks Bev.

Unfortunately I forgot (getting old & CRAFT is kicking in) to take the Sony Handicam today so had to rely on the phone for a bit of video & pics.

I’m sure Kermit will have much better video coverage of the days events.

Great videos and a great day after such a long time.

Yes Gadget, it was great to finally get some flying time again, hopefully later this week we can do it all again.

Given that I needed to add a small amount of nose weight to the Zero to correct the CG I opted to reprint the nose-cone in a heavier configuration. I upped the line count from 1 to 4 which gives a far tougher nose-cone & adds an extra 40gm to the weight. The original lightweight nose cones (around 17gm) suffers a lot of damage if landings are less than perfect. Hopefully the stronger one will be better.

Once I print & fit the prop spinner the CG should be close to spot on.

Also programmed a radio knob to quickly adjust the elevator trim in flight so she should be good to go next fly day.

      Wow! That’s a great idea.

Your zero should be known as Mark II.

      I might need an upgrade!

Thanks for your kind offer Mr Kermit.

        Looking for probably a metal one that will fit a 9 x 7 prop & a 3.2mm motor shaft.

I can print one if you don’t have anything suitable.

Seems like this is the last flying thread and you are now just a boating club. I got back from Philippines a week ago and have already had 2 full size sails here on a friends trimaran and also drove to Stanley for slope soaring. Here is some sloping footage. I hope you will consider a fly sometime.
