A balmy 28 degrees today @ the field with little wind & no sight of rain.

8 intrepid pilots turned up today with their menagerie of flying things to put through their paces.

Kermit spent most of the day on his camera (came without his planes) but he did at least manage one flight with his DJI Phantom drone.

Gerald was there for a while but I’m not sure if he flew or not.

Hoppy had several flights with his little bi plane as well as his glider and a couple of others.

DaveP (who we haven’t seen in several weeks) had drones & planes all eager for a workout.

Greg, under supervision of Rian, had his first solo FPV flight & landing today & looked a very happy chappy.

Stephen had a minor mishap with his “Red Thing” but flew his other planes without incident.

I maidened my little 3d printed P51 Mustang and everyone, including me, was impressed with how well she flew. Hopefully Kermit got some nice video.

It sustained a bit of minor damage due to my less than perfect landing but it will be easily fixed & ready for our next flying day.

Also had a successful 15 minute flight with the 3d printed Zero, chasing Ron’s Zero around the field, a very quick flight with the BumbleBee & a good long flight with the Wild Wing.

Kermit, you captured some nice Zero formation flying ✈️✈️👌

      Well done.

      Great couple of videos fellas.

I am pleased to see that I didn’t have a brain fade (’cause Kermit didn’t have anything to film… ) so obviously the walk of shame was staged for a later recording 🤔

It would be nice to get another fly in before Christmas but it’s a busy time and days are limited.

If someone proposes a fly day I’ll see if I can make it.

In the meantime after my less than ideal landing with the 3D printed P51, the repairs are almost completed.

I have replaced the bent motor shaft (second one in 3 weeks – just as well I bought spare motor shafts in bulk !!) and repaired a couple of minor cracks in the fuselage.

Just waiting for the replacement wing tip to print & she will be good to fly again.

Andrew (GG), Greg, Warwick and myself went for a one hour slope soar session at South Arm Dunes around lunch time today whilst you lot were glued to the cricket! Here is some brief footage. We need either a westerly wind for Tranmere to work or SE seabreeze for the dunes. If anyone else would like to participate let me know but its not suitable for flight controllers and a small glider or electric glider is needed. And there is a risk of mid air collisions as we fly in a small area so cheap foamies such as reject shop chuck gliders are the best for starting out.

Don’t feel sad Monsieur Grenouille there are those of us who love your hard work.

I must add that in some of the shots (not your video sorry) the Spiky Flying Group looked like a group of those Easter Island statues – are they really that old – just asking?

DEAR MR PREDATOR SIR,  Nope not enough colour  yet  When the aircraft is flying fast and at a distance in a clouded sky the camera is in zoom a white dot ie aircraft turns suddenly  its gone trying to find it is a waste of time as the camera has lost its fix  it can find a coloured aircraft  a tad better but requires re focusing  thus loosing purhaps a perfect spin twist loop  what we all wanna see  so dear ol thing  a bit more colour ……a colour like …emmmmm  green ?…………………………..just say’n

      • #20452

Easy fix, don’t use full zoom, just back off a little bit & focus will stay locked much better.

    • #20453

narh far out aircraft require zoom but not full zoom  just enough for a distant plane to be seen clearly if it goes further then yep you loose it quick  back it off  still in frame  is what it is but fast movements  in a clouded sky  white aircraft looses focus  a colourd aircraft stays in focus better  the best option is to stay close ………………an a green aircraft ……………………………………………just say’n
