Today was scratch racing at the Pond and 10 keen skippers were greeted by ideal sailing conditions with a gentle N-NE breeze that filled in to around 10kmh sea breeze as the morning progressed. The breeze had plenty of interesting shifts which kept all skippers on their toes and caught many of us out throughout the day. There was plenty of close racing as shown by the results and it struck me that the standard of the fleet has definitely improved.
Today’s winner was again Mr consistent Rijk on 16 points, closely followed by Greg on 25 points and Richard on 26 points. Closely following were Andrew and Rosco on 27 points with Andrew just pipping Rosco on count back for 4th. All up it was a pretty impressive result for Rosco who turned up wearing his B rig having left home thinking he had his A Rig on. He was frequently overheard urging the breeze to pick up a few more knots as he would like to win at least 1 race just to prove it could be done in the conditions.
Well sailed everyone – it was a great day.
