It looked pretty quiet on the surface of the vineyard dam this morning and I am sure that a few of the skippers were hoping that this would not be another drifting event like last week’s DF65 racing. But you could feel a breath of wind on your skin even though it was not enough to disturb reflections on the water, and as the DF95 does not need a lot of wind , there was enough for some good racing.

Andrew Thomas has just bought Col Johnson’s purple hulled No.72. He enjoyed his sailing today and scored a second in race-5.

It is always close racing in the DF95’s and today all skippers made the podium at some stage. All skippers finished all of the races too. With just 7 races completed today we had just one discard in the race total.

Third overall was (Bloody) Geoff Matthews who seemed to keep himself out of trouble today. (I think that I may have been the main trouble maker in that regard!)

Second place went to Bodge who was ably assisted in a couple of races when Bruce Palmer took the helm.

I managed to take the honours today with 5 race wins. Well….no Jammy, no Mat, no Lisa, no Trout! That helped things a bit. Actually you can all feel welcome to extend your break for a bit. I enjoyed today!

And congratulations to Mat and Lisa on their dominance of the Australian championships. Mat won the DF95’s and Lisa finished second. Lisa finished 5th in the DF65’s and Mat 8th. A tremendous effort! Well done to you both. Details of their exploits and some excellent video footage can be seen on the Queensland Radio Yachting Association website.

Not surprising that we didn’t see Mat and Lisa on the water today after nearly 40 races over the last week. And huge thanks to Lisa who came out this morning to help some of the newer skippers with boat tuning and sailing tactics.

Congratulations to you Shorty and the other podium places. Very good sailing in challenging condtitions today. Did you notice that first position places in all the races was between only two boats? Yours and Bodge’s. Well done to you both.
