Twelve starters for todays DF95 racing at Puddleduck wasn’t a bad turnout considering that a few of our regulars are sheltering in the warmer climate of Queensland. While it was nice and sunny we were not graced by much wind at all. A North Westerly was trying to establish itself but only at zephyr strength and it was often pretty much dead calm. It took quite a bit of persistence to complete seven races today. Bruce Palmer took the PRO’s chair again today. Thank you Bruce the racing is always smoother when we have a PRO on hand.

Today we welcomed guest Nathan Arnold who travelled from Launceston especially to sail with us today. That’s keen! I am so glad that there was enough wind to at least get some racing done. We hope that you enjoyed your day Nathan.

My brother Al sailed his new DF95 and had the full radio sailing experience from triumph to tragedy: A race win, a second place, a last, a buoy snare, a dinghy rescue and all while he had the rudder servo set in reverse! Welcome to radio sailing Al!

The honorable mention today goes to Dave Poon who sailed really strongly with his race tally included a well sailed third place.

Overall it was Phil Turnbull who took third place after finishing the day on a winning note which sealed him the podium spot in a count-back with Henry Finnis. I managed second today with a couple of race wins. But it was Trout who was far more consistent at finishing at the head of the fleet than anyone else and well deserved the overall victory. Congratulations Trout!

I was done by the time that we headed in for coffee. Most of the skippers agreed with me when I concluded that racing in drifting conditions is more exhausting than when there is a decent breeze.

      Great write up Shorty.

Light winds but great fun. Everyone seemed to enjoy the morning.

I must have missed a video on my hat cam as I only seem to have six races on it. My numbering of the vidoed races might be out of whack but it’s still a bit of a giggle watching them 🙂

      Hat cam videos to follow….

Yeah, I’ve really mucked up the numbering of the videos.  I normally grab a photo of the score sheet to help with the editing, so unfortunately, there has been a bit of guessing.

      Anyway….

Race 1 (heavily cropped due to the very light winds)

      Race 2

      Race 3
