Just a touch of Spring in the air today! It was a relatively warm 17 degrees (stop smirking Bodge and Jammy) and plenty of wind to go with it as a gusty North-Wester of about 15 knots gave us plenty to work with. A-rigs were universally chosen. A couple of gusts were a bit over the top which definitely put our skill level to the test.
A huge thanks goes to our PRO for the day, Bruce Palmer. Having Bruce was essential today as there were blanket finishes in at least three races.
Phil Turnbull didn’t make the start line for the first race due to servo problems. Fortunately Al Short had a spare boat with him which he lent to Phil for the day. It was a nice pay-back as Phil had previously given Al a DF95 to sail before he had bought one.
Honorable mentions today go to Don MacLeod and Ron Cullen. Don had a couple of race wins today – one of which was early in the program before handicaps became a significant factor. Gadget sailed really consistently today to finish forth overall with a particularly strong finish to the day and nothing worse than 4th on his scorecard after discards were taken.
I managed third overall finishing the day with a race win. Lisa and Trout were tied together on 22 points for 1st place but Trout took the day on count-back due to having three race wins. Well done to both.
All up I think it was an enjoyable day’s sail for all!

You summed the day up nicely Shorty 👍
We had it all today. Nice weather, good wind and a cheerful bunch of sailors who appeared to enjoy themselves.

A great day at the Duck, all the more so because:
– it was a nice breeze
– the dinghy wasn’t needed by anyone
– the dreaded mark 3 wasn’t used 😋
