DF65 / RG65 sailing at Puddleduck Vineyard – 8.7.2025
A cool overcast day greeted a smaller than usual fleet at Puddleduck Vineyard consisting of 10 x DF65s and 1 x RG65. A few of the regular skippers were missing today due to varying reasons.
A light north westerly of 2-3 knots was enough to get the races underway before it changed to a more northerly direction after R4.
Nick (aka Putty) gave himself a motivational speech on his drive out to PDV to stay out of trouble with clean racing …. Sorry Nick that didn’t work, did it? He found himself in more trouble than the early settlers at times but to his credit he finished equal second on 28pts with Peter Langford with Pete taking 2nd place on countback. Well sailed Peter considering you haven’t sailed for quite a while. Oh yeh well sailed Nick (I was one of his victims 😊 Beware of the RED boat 😊)
Our overall winner today without taking a line honours win was Switch on 24pts after dropping her first and last races (tactics perhaps?) Well sailed Lisa 😊
Honourable mentions go to both Gadget and Buzzy Behrens finishing on 29 & 30pts respectively and Martin sailing the most consistent that I have witnessed in recent times. Well sailed gents. 2nd place thru to 5th place all had two line honour wins which is quite unusual, with Martin and myself with a win each also.
Well, the rest of us had our chances (Didn’t we Dennis 😊) missing marks, getting stuck in irons and trying to dodge the red boat 😊 It wasn’t a great day for either Cooka or Bloody Geoff with boat troubles missing 4 & 8 races respectively. Something to do this week eh?
Thank you again to Sue & Bonnie for scoring and to Marion (PDV) for looking after us with a hot coffee etc. It was another enjoyable day at The Duck,
