Puddleduck Vineyard Combined Sailing 11 Nov 2025
Sixteen sailors decided to throw the dice and show up at Puddleduck today to chance their luck with the weather. Well, every throw of the dice won today! Let’s see, rain, blue sky, no wind, too much wind, fickle wind from every direction, mini hurricane while trying to round buoy 2! You name it, we had it all today. There was a loud cheer when the sailing was finished at 11:50, wait, what? That was from me!
The mostly becalmed conditions today only let us sail six races, yes, that means only one drop. I think everyone was really hoping for two drops today.
Bodge snuck into third place overall with two first places in race two and six today. Great sailing Bodge.
I really thought Lisa was going to win the day, with the highest handicap and every time I scanned the finishing boats, she was right up there. With also two first place finishings in race one and five, she is rewarded with second place overall.
Congratulations to JP for overall winner today. He didn’t need the second drop and won easily with 13 points.
A massive thank you to Sue and Bonnie for putting up with the trying weather conditions and producing a very accurate score sheet today. Also, thankyou to Graeme who assisted Sue rather than continuing to sail.
Our DF65/RG65 days would be a lot more challenging for us without the valuable help we receive from Sue, Bonnie and Graeme.
Upcoming Events
18 November – DF95 Racing
25 November – DF65/RG65 Combined Racing
Reminder
23 December – Sail anything Christmas Sail. No Christmas BBQ this year so you are welcome to purchase lunch and drinks from the new magnificent Puddleduck menu.

Great write up Gadget and well done on your 5th place, it was tough going out there today.
Just a friendly reminder to all skippers, that if you infringe, a penalty of a 360 deg turn should be completed. Remember we want racing to be enjoyable (it’s not a championship) and by not doing your penalties, causes angst amongst other skippers. Let’s keep it fun eh ! ☺️👍

ThankBodge, I was really surprised to come fifth. I thought I had done a lot worse than that.
Thanks for the reminder of the penalties if infringements are made. It’s not sheep stations but we should all do our best to sail as well as we can and do the honourable thing if we mess up.
All in good fun 🙂
