DF65 / RG65 sailing at Puddleduck Vineyard – 18.03.2025
Seventeen skippers fronted up to PDV to contest another round of DF65 / RG65 racing today with a near perfect breeze for sailing a 65 with a A+ rig. The breeze was forecast NW 7-8knts and by the time it reached the pond it was more WNW but only 2-3 knots.
It was a little cool to commence proceedings, but by midday most skippers had shed a layer enjoying some warmth again after a couple of cool days down south.
We welcomed two new faces today with their DF65s in tow, Tim Mitchell and John Cooper. Welcome gents, we hope to see more of you over the coming weeks.
With seventeen boats on the water, Gadget would have been in his element with his new split fleet board and software, but alas he has buggered off to Vanuatu to enjoy a well-earned break.
Today’s sailing over 10 races was hotly contested with a few hook ups, missed buoy roundings and the usual congestion at mark roundings (let’s not forget Buoy room chaps 😊).
In the combined fleet results, It was Jammy who won the day on net 25ptseven though he didn’t obtain a line honours victory. He did however manage five 2nd placings and one 3rd place which shows consistency can win you the day, well sailed Jammy 😊. Second place went to Stuart with his trusty ol RG65 on 30pts, with Lisa taking 3rd place on 34pts. Lisa very kindly lent me her boat from R2-R6 as she took time out to help a few skippers with tuning tips. Thank you, Lisa that was most generous of you, on both counts.
Other honourable mentions go to:
· Cooka who had a line honours victory with his home built RG65 in R5 😊,
· Bloody Geoff also had a victory in R9 (couldn’t have hit anyone Geoff 😊)
· Richard (Orford) with two race wins in R6 and R8 – well done! 😊
In the DF65 only results, It was Jammy, Lisa and Rosco taking third place. Well sailed by all skippers 😊
Many thanks again to Sue (Scorer) with trusty guard dog Bonnie, we appreciate your help every 65 day. To Puddleduck crew, THANK YOU for looking after us again😊
