Well, you wouldn’t believe the change in weather from Hobart to Puddleduck Vinyard today. Leaving Hobart, it was low cloud with drizzle and the temp gauge on the car reported 6 deg. Arriving at Puddleduck, the sun was shining and we had a gentle northerly breeze which was maintained for most of the morning. The Coal River Valley definitely has a climate of its own! The favourable breeze made course selection easy with buoys 2, 3, 4 twice around.
We welcomed new sailor Nick Connor from the DSS sailing at Puddleduck for the first time. During the morning, it was noticed that he performed a penalty after rounding buoy 3 correctly (IAW Puddleduck rules). When questioned, he said that part of his boat had touched the buoy. We then informed him that local Puddleduck rules allow contact with buoys as long as you round the buoy the correct way. I think Nick would have liked to know about that rule a bit sooner!
Overall winner goes to Bluey again today. He amassed a whopping 80 second handicap in his speedy RG65 with total 16 race points after drops. Second and third was close between Lisa and Trout with 25 and 26 points respectively.
Taking the RG65’s out of the mix, winner of the DF65 only class goes to Trout with Lisa second. Both being on 18 total points after drops. We trust the magic of the XL spreadsheet to work out the countbacks! Third place goes to Fab on 25 points.
The ever-growing RG65 class had, of course, Bluey first and Cookie second (sharing the sailing with Greg) and Gadget third.
Two special mentions today. Firstly, Flash experienced electrical problems with his DF65 in the first three races but then he must have rectified the problem as he rejoined the racing. He then managed to score three first places in the DF65 only class. Well done Flash.
Second mention was Dennis who seemed to be having an average day but managed to line up the ducks winning race 9! Well done Dennis.
Hopefully a few videos to follow…

Sounds like a good days sailing – and great report and videos Gadget!
Anyone for extra sailing?………
My brother Alan has just bought two DF95’s and we spent the day assembling them. We were hoping to be there to do a few laps today after racing finished but the building just took too long. So we might head out on Friday to so that he can get some practice sailing in with the new boats. Anyone who wants an extra sail this week with the DF95 is welcome to come out. Yes – there will be racing of course! We plan to get there at about 10:00.

Hi Shorty, I have nothing planned for Friday so I’ll come along.
Do you want to pop up a calendar entry for it? We might get some other people along if they look at the calendar.
Another suggestion is to pop up a forum post and maybe title it “Impromtu DF95 Sailing at Puddleduck Friday 21 Jun” or similar as people will notice that in the feed rather than the adition to this DF65/RG65 Tuesday post.
Mike does similar for proposing fly days.
