Fifteen skippers turned up today at PDV Pond to do battle again for Rg/ DF 65 bragging rights. There was a cool NW breeze 2-3knts which saw the boats skip around the course 2-3-4 twice round.
Trout very kindly offered to be PRO today and he did a great job keeping all the skippers under control. Thank you Trout. 🙂
Just before the first race a strange beast was seen skimming across the pond, was it a bird, plane , a duck ….. no it was a crocodile ! 🙂 It menaced the fleet before R1 and at the finish and again at the start of R2 before running out of grunt. It did lurk under the jetty at one stage waiting for an unsuspecting skipper to launch their boat with Poonie doing a double take when the croc appeared at his launching.
The racing was great with the breeze staying in all morning but did slowly die out towards the end. Ant Mountain who is a recent new member of RCTT and only his second visit to The Duck stormed out of the blocks past the croc and came in second to Bluey (RG) in R1. As we all know, coming in on the podium in the first race doesn’t always work well for the rest of the day, but to his credit he ended up third in the DF only class.
No surprises Bluey with his trusty ol RG65 blitzed the field in the combined fleet results, with Buzzy Behrens taking 2nd place and Switch 3rd.
In the DF only results, it was tie between Switch and Buzzy with Switch taking the honours on countback. Third as previously mentioned went to Ant. The hardluck story of the day went to Bloody Geoff who was chasing down 2nd place in the last race with his batteries throwing in the towel 5-7 meters from the finish line … bad luck BG.
Thanks again for Sue (& Bonney) for their dedicated scoring,
See you next week on the pond

Great write up Bodge and great video Gerald. Did you forget the disclaimer that no crocodiles were harmed during the filming of the the boat races? 😂
