      DF65/RG65 Combined Sailing 2 July 2024

Thirteen brave sailors (and our trusty scorer Sue and Bonnie), decided to give the chilly Puddleduck conditions a go this morning. I ventured out to the car this morning to find it truly frosted over. I was happy to see wave activity on the Derwent as I headed in and very happy to see we had a good NNW breeze when I arrived at Puddleduck.

We sailed start line A, buoys 2 – 3 – 4, twice around and finished on line B.

      Combined Class

10 out of the 13 sailors achieved a first place which I think is not a bad effort. Well done sailors.

Congratulations to Bluey for first place overall with 20 points, followed by Lisa in second on 29 points and Flash in third on 42 points.

      DF65 Class

Very close sailing in this class today with Lisa taking out first place with 19 points, followed by a tie between Flash and the Smiling Assassin both on 31 points but Flash takes out second place on a count back.

Apart from a few collisions, raft-ups and sailors being observed not giving way to starboard, the sailing today was in good spirit and despite the cold, I think everyone enjoyed the day.

Please Note!  Someone has left a black Joysway stand at Puddleduck. Graeme has collected it so if you are missing one, see him on the next 65 sailing day.

      Upcoming events

      9 July 2024 – DF95 Sailing

16 July 2024 – DF65/RG65 Combined sailing.  The Admiral has agreed to look after PRO duties on this day.

Hopefully a few hat cam videos to follow…

      Thanks Gadget, Good stuff.

I don’t enjoy rowing – rather be sailing!

A rowlock went overboard – “lost at sea”. I will replace it, and get a pair while I’m at it – and try to get smaller ones that fit those oars.
