      Race Report: July 22, 2025

Despite forecasts for strengthening winds, the 20 participating sailors experienced very light southerly breezes today. The event also saw the attendance of the Admiral, who arrived a little late due to a flat car battery this morning.

A notable sight was Ricky skilfully sailing his striking RG65 “Woody.” He performed admirably, particularly given the light wind conditions and the inherent weight of the boat.

Only five races were completed, with races four and five shortened to a single lap to account for the light air. Generally, sailor conduct was commendable, with minimal incidents or collisions observed by me but, hey, I spent most of my time among the less congested areas at the back of the fleet. 🙂

We extend a warm Puddleduck welcome to Todd and Sally Sproule. After observing last week’s event, Todd has decided to join our sailing community. Todd sailed a borrowed boat equipped with an A rig and is eagerly anticipating the arrival of his newly ordered vessel.

And we can’t forget to thank Sue and Bonnie for looking after the scoring for us today. We would be lost without them.

      Race Results

Congratulations to Buzzy for securing first place in both the combined class and the DF65-only class.

Also in the combined class, Bluey placed second, and Trout finished third.

For the DF65 only class, Trout was promoted to second place, with Lisa taking third.

A special mention goes to Dennis for achieving fourth place in the DF65 class. Well sailed. 👍

      Upcoming Events

      29 July 2025 – DF95 Racing

Crikey Gadget 😳, 20 boats on the water wow 😮. Well done champ !

I did miss being there and didn’t think there would be much in the way of wind as it was calm on the Derwent for most of the day.

      catch you soon hopefully 🤞

Well done with the slice too Ron. I may have found the location of some gear for Justin’s switching project, talk soon after your exam. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for welcoming myself & my wife Sally along and the offer to borrow an A+ rig on the day. Hopefully my boat will turn up soon and I can start putting it together. To late for the slice (like most of my races) > Here are a few pics Sally took while we were there. Cheers Todd Sproule.
