Puddleduck Vineyard Combined Sailing
Fifteen keen sailors turned up for today’s combined sailing race. It was great to see Graeme back and looking well. His RG was looking very sharp indeed as he led most of the first race only to be overtaken by Stuart close to the end. Speaking of, a very warm welcome back for Stuart. It didn’t take any time for him to get back into the groove, with his speedy fast RG. Winning the first two races and three podiums in total!
The wind was very light at the start with a shortened course chosen. However, the wind picked up before the button press, resulting in a course change right from the start!
Sailing was a bit erratic as the wind strengthened throughout the morning with boats submarining and loss of control. A rig change was called after race 5.
No surprises with Stuart winning the combined class and the RG class. Well done, Stuart.
Congratulations to Trout for second place in the combined class and DF class.
A very special congratulations to Richard for third in the combined class and after a countback with Trout in the DF class, Richard takes the honours! Is that your first outright place win Richard?
Oh, and congratulations to Nick for coming third in the DF class.Well done to the podium placings.
There were a few early retirements today with Bodge having problems with his mast jamming in the mast slot and Andrew breaking his boom vang in a gust of wind. Better luck next time chaps.
As usual, a very big thankyou to Sue and Bonnie for keeping us honest across the finishing line.
