      Puddleduck Sailing – RG/DF65s 29.08.23

Another enjoyable morning was had by all 10 skippers that attended the RG/DF65 sail day, with plenty of banter and laughs along the way.

We were greeted with sunshine, the usual 0-3 knts NW breeze occasionally shifting to the SW without any warning, with the occasional bullet gusts to see some nose diving at one end of the course and becalmed elsewhere … only at the Duck 😊

We managed 10 races today with some very close fought out racing with results changing right on the finish line. 5 different skippers shared line honours with 9 skippers sharing the podium at least once during the morning. Β It is the first time that I can remember where 9 out of 10 skippers ended up with a handicap. Speaking of handicaps, young Stuart #8 ended up on 75 seconds and still managed 3rd place in race 10., well sailed Scrooge 😊 (Chaps, I think it’s time we should add some lead to slow him down)

At the end of the day, I envisaged that Stuart #8 would take out overall honours in the combined and RG class and he didn’t disappoint finishing on net 16 pts in the combined class. I was even more surprised when I, #006 came in second on 27pts, with third place Ret Admiral #23 one point adrift on 28pts.

In the DF65 only class Bloody Geoff #80 came in with a (well-deserved? 😊) 3rd place on net 25pts, Ret Admiral #23 second 22pts, and I #006 happily took out first place with 20pts.

A couple of special mentions go to the Gentle Giant (Andrew #92) who scored a first place in race 6 in the DF only class (congratulations GG 😊), and Poonie #81 who has shown considerable improvement, nice work Poonie !

Thank you again to Sue, Bonny and Puddleduck crew for looking after us, and it was also great to see Trout join for us for coffee.

Next week at the β€œDuck” will see the DF95 fleet take its turn with a reminder that the next luncheon is scheduled for the first Tuesday in October (3/10/23 coinciding with DF95 sail day), mark it in your diaries. It is also posted on the RC Toys website calendar so there are no excuses 😊.

See you all next time at the Duck 😊

Thanks Bodge, yep another great day out @ da Duck again. Certainly was interesting at times and at different parts of the course!😲
