DF65-RG65 Combined sailing at Puddleduck
Well, the weather improved so much from the weekends forecast. We had fine conditions with light breeze averaging about 5 knots from the north west (well sort of). That offered us a counterclockwise course from start line A, then buoys 2 – 3 – 4, twice around finishing on line B (sort of).
Today was going to be a special day as we were supposed to have four RG’s sailing in the combined class but it wasn’t to be. Bluey had a dental appointment, Sue, our wonderful scorer couldn’t make it so Graeme stood up to do the scoring duties and didn’t sail. Thank you very much for that Graeme. That left myself and Bodge to maiden our RG65’s. I sailed one of Graeme’s wonderfully handmade yachts and was pleasantly surprised with the performance of the yacht with a small sail.
Bodge’s RG needs a special mention. It’s been a labour love for some time and Bodge has kept us updated with its progress. Quite a few of the sailors were keen to see the finished product today and for those who didn’t get a close look at it, here are a few photos. The hull is made from plantation Paulownia timber, similar to balsa wood but harder, transom Huon Pine. The stand is made from recycled King Billy Pine from Lake Margaret power station wooden pipeline. Truly a masterpiece. Well done, Bodge.
Combined Class Results.
Lisa takes the honours with 18 points including a win in the last race and from what I remember was in very light conditions. Well done, Lisa. Second goes to Trout on 19 points! Aren’t drops wonderful Trout? 🙂 Third goes to myself on 21 points.DF65 Class Results.
Once again, Lisa in first place on 15 points, Trout second on 16 points and the Admiral third with 18 points. All very close sailing at the pointy end.Another special mention to Peter Ross who sails occasionally, managed fourth place with a first place in Race 4. Not bad Peter. You adapted well in the usual shifty wind conditions at Puddleduck.
Coming up …
Next week – DF95s (Tuesday 11/6/24 – bi-monthly luncheon)

Hello Peter,
I googled nicknames for Peter Ross and found on the Spiderman Fandom web page, Peter Ross is also known as spider-boy.
https://spiderman.fandom.com/wiki/Peter_Ross_(Earth-9602)
So, as a suggestion, you could use Spidey or something similar. You could also use a Spider Man or spider for an avatar in the forum like…
Which I think looks really cool. What do you think?
