Sixteen sailors attended sailing at Puddleduck Vinyard today.  The temperature was a bit cool to start off with but as the sun broke through the clouds in the latter part of the morning, which made sailing quite pleasant.

The wind was variable from the south west to the north west, anywhere from a few knots to gusts of 10 knots. This made it dificult to pick a decent upwind course. Thanks to Lisa for the suggestion of an “bowtie” course including buoys 4 – 3 – 2 – 1. This gave us the best chance of an upwind beat at some stage in the shifing conditions.

Just about everyone had an “up and down” day looking at the wide range of finishing positions for sailors on the scoresheet.

It was great to see the Admiral back from his northern holidays. He also had an “up and down” day but managed a first place in race nine.

A few sailors had a bit of bad luck with gear failure. Trout, who is more accusomed to overall podium placing, had his own handicap with the rubber sheeting giving way through the morning.  Alan had a rudder servo failure which put an end to his sailing from race four.

Congratulations to Lisa for first place in both the combined class and DF65 class today.
A very good result from John P in second place in both classes and Flash with a respectable third place in both classes.

Once again, a very big thank you to Sue for scoring duties. This really appreciated by the sailors.

Hopefully a few hat cam videos will follow…
