It was a cool but sunny day at Puddleduck where a crew of 12 skippers assembled for the day’s DF95 racing.  A gusty South-Westerly of 0-6 knots provided for good racing and significant shifts meant that skills were tested.

My big brother Alan turned up again today and sailed my boat while I sailed Phil Turnbull’s spare boat. Thanks again Phil. Al really enjoyed his sail and ‘the post race chat’, but who wouldn’t with a second place in his race mix and such a fine bunch of gentlemen to hang out with.

Before racing Ron and I were chatting and saying that since resetting the buoys a couple of months ago we didn’t seem to be having as many hook-ups. The buoys were obviously listening! As soon as we had congratulated ourselves boats seem to flounder on them with quite some regularity. I must say that Bodge has developed some genuine technique at nudging a boat to persuade it to disentangle.

Honorable mention today goes to Dennis Bowden for a nicely controlled win in race 6.

Third place today went to Bodge with quite a mixture of placings in his mix.

I took second place but must give some credit to Bruce Palmer who borrowed the boat in the middle of the program and won a race for me!

And today’s winner was Phil Jackman with two wins and nothing worse than 5th on the card.  Well done Trout!

Today was the last day for a while for Jammy who is as usual travelling North to Queensland with Lynne for the winter. I am pretty sure that he has packed a DF65 in the luggage. We all wish you a great trip Jammy. I reckon that in Jammy’s absents the top podium spot will be hotly contested over the winter.

Over coffee today we enjoyed pastry scrolls by our master-chef Ron Cullen-ary Wizard. Thanks so much Ron. Absolutely delicious!

Thanks Bodge. I got home to find that my back stay was trailing along behind the car and the mast crane broken inside. No matter the new one is only $10.00……. plus $20.00 postage! What a killer that postage is!

      Great write up Shorty.

Congratulations to Trout for first place today. Very consistent sailing and a well-deserved win.

Also, a big thank you to Bruce for helping out with the scoring today.

It was very nice of Puddeduck staff to offer to heat the ham & cheese pinwheels.  They are generally good cold but much better when heated.
