There was a nice 3 or 4 knots of North Westerly blowing when we arrived at Puddleduck this morning which set the mood for a good morning of racing. Peter Sylvester again took on the PRO’s tasks and as usual did a great job. Thank you so much Peter. The wind did drop and swing a little as the morning proceeded but still we had a great morning’s racing and completed nine races over a slightly longer course. And was it just slightly warmer this morning? – Well it was sunny at least which always makes for more enjoyable sailing.

Clanger of the day goes to (Bloody) Geoff Mathews who had a commanding lead in race number six but then snared himself on a buoy. And just to rub salt into the wound inflicted it was not even a buoy of the course! Bodge had a day out – a day out in the rescue dinghy that is. He attended at least three rescues – ‘Oarsome’ effort Bodge! While on the subject of the rescue dinghy, more thanks go to Peter Sylvester who made a donation so that we could purchase a life jacket. If your boat is in need of a rescue, andyou are using the dinghy, then the life jacket must be worn. And please do not use the rescue dinghy if for any reason you shouldn’t be! Simply call for a rescue and one of the other members who are more able will be only too happy to help – as ably demonstrated by Bodges heroic efforts today.

It was one of those days where most skippers had both fortune and calamity and you couldn’t really pick the standout winner before totalling results. Third place overall went to that Smiling Assassin Phil Turnbull whose results sheet showed good consistency.

John Penman took out second place with three race wins to his credit.  Lisa’s summation of his performance was; “We will all be getting pink boats now!”

Wayne Behrens took out the day.  Buzzy sealed the deal only at the very end of the final race when the four leading contenders were locked in a battle to secure buoy room rights at the last mark. In fact they were literally locked together and Buzzy seized the opportunity to sail wide around them to claim both the last race and overall honours for the day. Congratulations to Phil, John and Wayne!

I do have to mention memberships again as it is important that everyone has paid up by the June 27th deadline. Thanks to the many who have already taken care of it. Others please do so promptly. Your $20 can be either paid to RCT Administrator Mike Holbrook through his payID account (using phone no 0400596962) then follow your deposit with a text to Mike so he can clearly identify your payment. Or……you could pay $20 cash to either Bodge or myself and we will make sure that you are registered appropriately. Next Tuesday will definitely be the last opportunity to pay in cash.

      See you on the water.

Thanks for the great write up Shorty and thanks to Peter for scoring. There was a few crowded finishes which would have kept him on his toes. I think I saw Lisa helping out as well.

      A very enjoyable day’s sailing.
