A blustery South-Wester of 15+ knots kept the skippers entertained this morning at Puddleduck vineyard. We all chose A-rigs as there were some sizable calm patches between the gusts. At Puddleduck the flat surface of the small dam allows you to carry a bigger rig that you would at other venues in the same wind strength. The A-rig was quite controllable in all but race #5 when a couple of gusts caused some knockdowns and nose-dives.
We welcomed Will Short who had his first taste of RC racing today. And he sailed well too, finishing the day with a 3rd place in the last race. We hope that you enjoyed the day Will.
John Penman is also fairly new to radio sailing and he showed that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the near future with some good sailing and a race win in race #8. The other honorable mention goes to Gadget who has been right up and amongst it regularly during the last couple of months and today placed 4th overall and he too had a race win on his scorecard for race #6.
The podium was well shared around with eight different winners from the ten races. The top three overall were well ahead of the rest of the fleet though, a clear 10 points separating them from the next boat. Lisa and Trout tied for second and third with Lisa getting the nod on countback due to having two race wins. I managed to win the today’s racing just one point ahead of Lisa and Trout and with plenty of ‘useful’ 4th placings in my tally!
It was nice to stay a little longer today and to have lunch at the café with the skippers. Great pies!
Don’t forget to put Show Day aside as Risdon Brook will be hosting ‘The Show Day Showdown’ – an invitation event for DF65’s and DF95’s. A flyer with details of the event has been posted separately on this forum.

Thanks for the great write up Shorty.
Due to the stronger wind and shorter races, processing the hat cam video is quicker than usual. I should be able to get all races posted except for Race 10 due to me getting stuck on the buoy in that race.

I couldn’t do much sailing today due to a dead rudder servo so took a few pictures of today’s events.
