With the run of windy, cool days that we have been having lately it was a relief to find that we could even sail today and though the wind was not ideal the day was vaguely warm and so relative to what we have been served lately – ‘a nice day for a sail’. A bit gusty (0 – 10 knots) and shifty and westerly but as said, good to be racing.
And it was close racing too with the swirling breeze often sweeping the tail of the fleet up to the leaders. It was good to see that skippers were generally trying to give others plenty of room which helped avoid the raft-ups that can often occur with conditions like this. It was close on the scoreboard as well with most skippers getting to the podium a couple of times today.
An honourable mention goes to Sheepie (David Woolley) who finished with three 2nd places on his scorecard and was well in front of everyone at the half-way stage of our sailing program.
Third place went to John Penman. A very good effort considering that there were two DNF’s in his mix. Jammy Jones is always up there and finished the day in second place. With three race wins I was expecting Buzzy Behrens to win the day very handsomely but in fact he stole it just a single point ahead of Jammy. (He is still handsome – if you like that sort of thing I suppose). Congratulations Buzzy, Jammy and JP!
After coffee Bodge, Gadget and I stayed to chat to the management of Puddleduck. We were very pleased to find that they are still quite happy to have us sailing on the dam and think that it is still very compatible with the Puddleduck brand. Ange was also keen to tell us about the new pizza ovens being installed. That definitely sounds like something to look forward to.

Nice write up Shorty 👍
The next DF95 day (Tuesday4/11/25) will also coincide with a return of our bi-monthly post sailing luncheon, the menu has changed slightly but the pies will still be on offer. The three of us each devoured the lamb pie today and is as good as ever. So is the TGR wine 🍷.
The Xmas Sail anything day is planned for Tuesday 23rd December, however this year it will be their normal menu on offer which will include pizzas 🍕 which Ange has advised are very yummy. Due to change in operation the BBQ is no longer an option ( Darren & Jackie took it with them 😂)
