There was less than 3 knots of wind for most of the morning – at times not much at all and the ‘icing on the cake’ was increasing drizzle as the morning proceeded. Still it takes more than poor conditions to keep the DF95 boys from our course at Puddleduck and today 15 skippers turned up for racing. As the morning proceeded the wind did fill in a little bit and with an Easterly slant which is a bit unusual for the vineyard.

Gadget was back today and in good form too after recovering from his trip to Vanuatu, but Bodge was absent on official federal government business!

Alan Short brought the family as guests today so in all there were four Shorties on the course. Young Benny Short, a Sabot sailor with the Kingston club, enjoyed the racing greatly and was especially pleased with a podium finish in one race. Will Short sailed well too and was very happy to beat his dad in the overall placings.

The honourable mention today goes to Poonie who had a second place in one race (and close to winning too) and he was very competitive for most of the morning. Good sailing Dave.

We decided to hang tough in light rain at the finish just so that we could complete eight races and have the benefit of two discards.

I managed another third place overall today without pocketing any race victories. John Penman was second and sailed well from the back marker position for most of the day after doing well in the opening races. Today’s winner was Phil Jackman. Trout had three race wins today and I reckon that anyone who does that deserves to claim overall honours. Congratulations to you Trout.

Now the boys usually have their coffee outside on the deck but we must be impressing with our high level of decorum as today we were invited inside! What is happening to the place! She’s a slippery slope Nick!

      Well written Shorty.

I think I need to go on more holidays! 🙂

Nice to see a couple of youngsters having a crack and notably showing the old folk how it is done.
