There was steady rain falling when I left Hobart this morning and I found that I had to dial up the window wiper speed as I approached the Richmond Road so I was very pleased to find that when I got to the vineyard there were plenty of others that were keen to race. Also pleasing was that the rain quickly dried up and there was even some blue sky during the morning. Unfortunately that was about as far as the good news went. It was pretty much flat calm – less than 1 knot anyway, and what wind there was was very undecided in its direction.

The lack of wind was coupled with quite a weed problem today. Most of the weed at Puddleduck is broken reeds, twigs and bark litter and if there is any wind at all it is quickly blown to one of the dam’s shores. But, when it is clam it floats around randomly on the surface to the angst of the sailors. Fortunately it is seldom the problem that it was today. In fact I can’t remember a (DF95) day in the last year when it has been quite the trouble that it was today. Still I guess we got out for a sail.

Thanks to Bruce Palmer for his work as PRO today.

Only four races were completed in the light conditions. With four races completed skippers are given one discard race in their scorecard.

Third place today was taken by Henry Finnis who finished with a race win and a third place in his total.

Second went to new comer Rod Viney who only launched his DF95 this morning. It is not hard to see that Rod will be regularly appearing on the podium. Extremely well done Rod!

And today’s winner was Phil Jackman who finished with the perfect score of three race wins after discarding a second. (Even still Trout said it was a pretty ordinary sail day today because of the poor conditions.) Congratulations Trout Rod and Henry!

Something that was not ordinary today was Ron’s pineapple slice that we shared aver coffee. Delicious thanks Ron!

A well written report which sums the day up nicely Shorty, thank you.  Oh, and thank you for your kind words on the pineable slice 🙂

I’m going to repost the link to the DF95 Tuning Gauges again as there was a few questions about them today.

Btw, the gauges were used on Rod’s brand new DF95 this morning before it hit the water!
