Today was the first winter’s race day and it felt like it too especially for those who did not bring gloves! There was welcome sunshine however and a decent South-Westerly wind of about 2- 5 knots which led to some good racing and with Jammy away the podium was beckoning!

Peter Sylvester has been away for a few weeks recovering from a heart condition but turned up today to take on PRO’s duties. Thanks so much for your work today Peter. It was much needed too as many of the races featured blanket finishes. What we are really hoping to see though is that bright orange hull of yours back on the water and racing with the boys. We all wish you a speedy and strong recovery.

The dam level was noticeably lower which was probably the cause of quite a few hookups and strandings today.

Race honours were well shared about today with podium finishes right down the scorecard and eight different skippers winning the nine races sailed. (Alan Short being the only skipper to win two races today.)

Trout finished third overall sailing with trademark consistency. Chris Wood took second place. Woody is fairly new to the vineyard racing group but has shown that he will be right up amongst the leaders. It is really good to see you enjoying the sailing at Puddleduck Chris. I managed a rare victory today just one point ahead of Woody.

After sailing today some of the skippers stayed on for lunch at the café. Apparently they have a new pie supplier and, in my opinion, not too bad at all!

It is that time of year that memberships have fallen due. It is important that this is attended to promptly by all. To make things easier we will give skippers the option of making a cash payment of subscriptions to either Bodge or myself over the next two Tuesdays. Alternatively you may make payment online through the RCtoys website. At $20 it’s an absolute bargain!
