With our winter time 11:00 am starts the early morning chill & frost is usually burnt off and today, although it was two coat cold, there was virtually no wind, no rain and for most part a fine & sunny day.

There were 8 pilots today with a variety of aircraft to take advantage of the ideal flying conditions.

I had 5 planes today that all needed testing after iNav firmware upgrades (3 wings & 2 V Tail gliders) and they all got airtime & all flew beautifully.

Likewise Rian was testing a new iNav installation with a SpeedyBee F405Wing Mini in one of his long range FPV planes, he flew for over 1/2 an hour and used less than half his battery capacity so was suitably impressed.

Unfortunately the day was marred by Kermit writing off his “Big Whitie”, we has installed a new receiver after previous problems and it was flying superbly, as you will see in the video (eventually), but Kermit, being the frog that he is just had to push the envelope and unbeknown to the rest of us he had failed to secure the not inconsequential lead counterweight and it moved (a lot) resulting in loss of control & the coming together (rather harshly) of the plane & terra-firma.  It may be repairable but will need a lot of work.

Other than that I think most other planes got away unscathed.

A couple of videos from onboard the BumbleBee.

One from the Excalibur V2, two onboard cameras this time.

and another of Kermit’s “Big Whitie” demise.

You may have some issues with your flying of late Mr Frog but you still do a great job as resident videographer @ the field.

Well done at capturing the essence of the day.

Yes, a very good video Kermit.

It was sad to see the demise of Big Whitey.

The main thing is you were able to get the crash on video so look forward to the AIB Sandford branch diagnosis. I think Kermit will have it flying again, just needs a few tubes of superglue. Im going flying this weekend but in the meantime went on a boat tour at Langkawi. Lankawi means Island of the Reddish Brown Eagles so plenty of eagles in this footage. With their bird brains they seem to fly without crashing but enough of that…

Nice clear video there with your new HandiCam Chris, you just need to learn to pan around a bit slower.
