After a couple of weeks of rain & wind, everyone was keen to get out today for a fly before the weather turns to winter again.
Even with short notice of the Tuesday Fly Day we had 8 hardy pilots turn up for a bit of fun & frivolity.
It only got to around 13 degrees and the breeze (when it turned up) made it feel far cooler but that never stopped anyone from getting airborne.
Andrew was the first to have a mishap, his 3D printed Zero bit the dust, soon after followed by Mark who broke a wing tip on his 3D printed Go Wolf glider and then totalled his 3D printed Zero. I’m guessing there will be some hard working 3D printers around Southern Tas in the next week or two.
I think there may have been a couple more mishaps & I’m sure Kermit will have captured them on this trusty handicam. I was too busy flying to spot them all.
Most pilots flew multiple planes during the day but I won’t try to list them.
I had been fine tuning the WalkSnail HD Digital FPV system on the Kobuz over the past couple of week so did manage an 11klm round trip flight today to give it a test. Still needs a bit of work but getting very close to how I want it.
Ricky was back flying with us today for the first time in about 18 months but it didn’t take long to get back into the swing of things. Hopefully we will see you again a bit sooner than another 18 months.
DaveP had another helicopter to try today and it seemed to fly very well. I got a bit of video that get posted eventually.
Kermit was back in attendance today after missing a few weeks with medical issues, but he had his camera out most of the day & the Road Kill Cafe BBQ fired up to feed the masses. Nice to see you back Kermie & thanks for the BBQ.

There were plenty of decent thermals before lunch but with the cool breeze they mostly disappeared after lunch. There were plenty of bingles today including my Radian glider. The wing retention screw disappeared and the wing partly pulled out in flight causing a spiral dive into the soft ground. Not much damage and fixed already. Look fwd to seeing some videos but none from me today. Apologies for flying sitting down but had a sore foot and shoulder.

I visited my mate cobber MR SINKER on monday with a special bit of road kill tuccka I wanted someone to try my chiefs special I cut them into slices ready for my customers at the flying field as the sinker didnt turn up to fly I presume the meat could have been just a tad past it … a tender piece of choook well native hen actually marinated in its own body juice with a touch of rubber arhhhh nice ………….get well soon sinky I saw a wallaby with his legs up on the way home from flying i’ll get it next week for the crew once again get well soon sinky P.S i’ll bring you around a nice brew of chook soup ………………………………………..Jjust say’n
