As part of the project to convert my main FPV plane (Kobuz aerobatic glider) from analog fpv to digital I needed to convert the Visor X headset from an analog screen to a digital screen with HDMI input.
The only screen readily available that was around the correct size & had HDMI input with the correct resolution to connect to the Caddx Avatar HD digital VRX was the S55E 5.5″ HDMI On-Camera monitor by FeelWorld.
To get this monitor to fit, the Visor-X headset needed a couple of minor mods.
First the headset needed to be dismantled.

I removed the viewing mirror as well as the hinge mount for this had broken previously and now has a removable bolt fitted. If you are careful all mods could be carried out without removing the mirror (or even dismantling the headset.
The hinge that holds the original cover plate for the analog monitor needs to be carefully cut off. This is because the replacement monitor is 5.5″ and the analog monitor is 4.5″

Once this is removed you need to carefully file two slots into the lower edge of the headset (where the bottom of the monitor catches) so it will fit flat.

That is all the mods required to the actual Visor-X headset and your new digital monitor should now fit perfectly.

I have powered it up and it looks perfect.
Now all that is left is to design & 3D print a back case for the Visor-X to hold the monitor in place & provide a nice flat mount for the Avatar Digital VRX.
This is the Avatar Moonlight 4K HD Digital setup on the Kobuz glider

Got the new front (or is it rear) case 3D design finished and printed for the VISOR X HD Digital FPV goggles finished & fitted.

Just need to make up a battery lead. The short HDMI to mini HDMI lead is on order and should only be a few more days.
Oh, and I printed a spare one cos I’m sure Neil will be upgrading to digital once he tries mine out.
Hopefully weather will clear up soon.
