Forcett Lakes – IOM Classic Day
1st April 2023
A partly sunny coolish day with variable westerly 10 knt breeze greeted eight skippers today to contest another IOM classic day.
The format involved a handicap system of 15 sec for a win, 10 sec for second and 5 sec for third with no dropped races, and at the end of the day every skipper had a handicap in the range of 15 – 45 seconds, with close racing being the order of the day with 6 of the 8 skippers taking line honours.
First and second places were only separated by 1 point with Rob Cooney taking the overall honours today with a very consistent performance without actually recording a race win, well done Rob !
Second place went to Peter Germain who had some ups and downs with race results but did score two race wins, well done.
Third place to seventh place was only separated by 2 points which just shows how hotly contested the sailing was today, with Peter Turner taking third place on countback. Well done to all skippers who should be congratulated for a great day without any major mishaps.
The BBQ post sailing was greatly enjoyed by all that attended. Many thanks to Peter W for supplying the rescue dinghy (not required today thankfully) , BBQ and chairs. 😊
