Hi all,
I’m trying to configure my Matek F405-WING v1 in my C1 Chaser wing.
The FC has been installed facing the back of the wing.
In Mission Planner, I have the updated firmware loaded etc, and I’m trying to get the orientation configured correctly.
However, whilst I can set the AHRS_ORIENTATION to 4 (which is YAW 180), the horizon is still flipped on roll. But there is no AHRS_ORIENTATION setting for YAW 180, ROLL 180.
Aside from removing the FC and installing it in the correct direction, has anyone any other thoughts?
There was a reason for installing it backwards, which escapes me for the moment. :p

G’day Neil, you can install them right way up, upside down, on either side BUT the arrow on the FC must ALWAYS face in the direction the plane flies.
Most modern FC’s must face forward, unlike the old FY 41AP’s that could be reprogrammed for installing in reverse.

In Inav you can have the board pointing in any direction, you just need to configure it in the alignment tab.
This video shows how.

Thanks Gerald, I stand corrected.
I have actually seen that option in iNav 7 but not used it so apparently it didn’t stay stored in my grey matter.

Thanks all,
I think there’s something wrong with the FC though.
In Mission Planner, that AHRS_ORIENTATION has a number of modes to set, but it doesn’t matter what I set, the pitch (left-right horizon) ends up flipped. I’ve temoved the FC from my wing, to make testing and calibration easier, but it just doesn’t set correctly.
Ive updated the firmware, and im using the latest version of MP.
I’m wondering if it’s just knackered, I’ve never used this new F405, but unfortunately I bought it quite a while ago so probably no warranty. -

After deciding that the FC must have an issue, I decided to replace it with the v2. That’s turned up, and after getting Ron to do the soldering of the pins etc onto the board, I’ve connected it to my PC, and found its having exactly the same issue!! I’m not sure if this is a Mission Planner issue, or something else. It can’t be the PC, cause I’ve actually tried it on several PC’s!
As far as inav, all I can find to install is inav configurator… not sure if this is the full product or not, but it can’t even connect to the FC!

Neil, inav configuration is the program you need but you have to load firmware into the fc before you can configure it.
Im not far away from Ron so if you want to drop up sometime I’ll show you how to set it up as I have all the needed files on my pc

Yeh that’d be great, thanks Mike 🙂
I like right near Ron too 🙂
I think I remember where you live. Would tomorrow after work be good for you?

Should be home all day so any time after 10:00 should be fine.

I should be able to get there by 4:30 (just!) but who knows how long it will take. I don’t mind, but I’m also happy to come after dinner. Whatever works best for you! 🙂
p.s. maybe email me separately your address? I vaguely recall, but don’t want to knock on the wrong door! :p
