Of course weather was the big player at the Duck today. Varying degrees of strength coming from W, NNW, SW and all points in between as usual. Nine plucky lads arrived this morning all scratching their heads, persumably trying to figure out what rig would work. Normally the rule at the pond is, stick to the A+ and see how it goes. Only Gadget stayed on an A rig and at times that seemed the sensible option while the fleet was busy nose diving, but of course left him struggling in the light periods. survival of the fittest was certainly the motto of the day with only 2 points separating the top five finishers needing some count backs to sort the order. Phil Mackey won out in the end, equal on 24 points with JP, Richard on 25 taking third over Peter Shield 25 and Buzzy 5th on 26. As impressive as that looks, the Duck had the last laugh, giving us a last minute heavy downpour complete with driving hail to send everyone scrambling to grab boats and gear. Must be crazy!
