Another great sunny day greeted all that attended Puddleduck for today’s DF95 racing. The wind as usual was light and variable initially from the W – SW then depending on which mark you were rounding came from all points of the compass making it somewhat challenging at times.

The day started with Gadget and the Smiling Assassin given the task of placing a piece of swimming pool noodle on the treacherous fountain so we could all see it. Admiral was heard giving exact instructions as to where the noodle should be positioned and ironically was the first skipper to get caught on the fountain in race 4, nice work Admiral 😊, hope you enjoyed your outing in the rescue dinghy. There were also quite a few buoys being missed by various skippers throughout the morning, suggest some optometrists maybe busy this week.

With Admiral hooked around the fountain in race four Trout also managed to hook his keel around buoy one when a gust heeled his boat over unexpectantly, this led to Admiral being a DNF and Trout coming in last place. Not to be out done they respectively finished first and second in the next race, nice comeback chaps.

At the conclusion of today’s sailing whilst enjoying a Puddleduck coffee, there was no one skipper putting their hand up saying they had taken the honours due to such close racing, with eight different skippers enjoying a race win out of ten races.

The first four places were covered be three points with Trout taking the honours on 26pts, closely followed by the Admiral on 28 Pts, with Jammy and Fab tied on 29pts. Well done gents!

The next five places were within 5 pts of each other, great close racing by all.

A special mention should go to Poonie who missed the first 5 races but managed a well-deserved third place in the last race, I think an ecstatic “yes” was heard and a fist pump was seen from the sidelines. Well done Poonie !!

Thank you again to Gadget for supplying the table, starting sequence technology, paperwork, and results, it is always greatly appreciated 😊

Another enjoyable day, with great humour and banter during the morning.

      See you all next week!

Good write up Bodge, thanks for your gentlemanly reporting of the Admirals’ fountin’ mountin’ today. Both Trout and I suffered the indignity of a gust at a critical moment putting us in harms way.
Great day out for the ‘duckers this one.

No better way (old men with their toys), to spend  a most enjoyable morning.

Well written again Bodge and you captured the day perfectly. However, they say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is one to complement your magnificet summary of the fountain that stood out like a beacon with that bright blue swimming pool noodle!

      Admiral to the rescue….
