Tasmania in Autumn is the best time of the year here in the Apple isle and today we enjoyed the best of the best at our very own Puddleduck pond.

A mostly steady 5 – 10 knot breeze from the North, a warm sun above and some great company with the racing often closer than close as all four skippers jockeyed for position throughout every race, often finishing less than half a boat length apart after two laps.

We had a special visitor today in Peter Darcy who came over to check us out. He quickly found a transmitter in his hands and he sailed the next race. Peter, for those that don’t know him, is RC sailing royalty in this neck of the woods so it was great to see him having fun on our patch. He promises to be back with us next Tuesday for some DF95 goodness!

Everyone enjoyed at least one win as sometimes the wind would play coy, turning zero’s to heroes in an instant. That’s racing.

Don #99 had a patchy day broken by flashes of brilliance at odd times.

Col #23 also didn’t quite have his ducks in line though managing two firsts for the day.

It was the titanic struggle between Pete #78 and Geoff #80 that came down to the wire with both finishing on equal points. On countback Geoff just got his nose over the line but a fantastic effort by both skippers.

After seven races with one drop the final scores were.

Don on 17 points, Col on 14, Pete on 12 and our winner today Geoff on 12 points.

Thank you gentlemen for your terrific company and an excellent day’s sail.

Next week we are sailing DF95’s @ the Duck and thereafter revert to our familiar pattern of alternating DF65’s one week and DF95’s the next.

Thanks for the post Col, looks like everyone enjoyed another great day @ the duck.

It’s just unfortunate that this time of year is also the best for flying but we will all be back to the Duck soon enough.

Thanks Mike, I hope you had as just a fantastic day as we did today. It was something special.

Yes, looking forward to getting the band back together again soon.

Yes Col, we did indeed. We were also down a couple of regulars due in part to the short notice but the four that were there all had great flights & enjoyed our customary BBQ lunch.

Ill have a report & some video up later.
