You want close racing? Hell yeah!!
No kidding, in just one race you could have thrown a very small blanket over the whole fleet of seven boats … and that was after two buoys had already been rounded.
What an exciting day, the breeze was fickle in the verandah’s shadow and without Ron to show us where the shallow spots were we all just stuck to the middle and played safe.
Great to see Dave #48 getting his mojo back as well as his health.
Graham #52 and Sue (#?) came along and played with us today. Sue kicked off the scoring and Graham picked his brand new boat up off the rocks where it had blown over.
Thankfully the hull remained intact, sails were fine and Graham had a lovely day tuning and tweaking his new RG up to performance.
Ricky #92 and Geoff #80 were locked together in a sailing hand to hand combat that saw some great tactical racing from the two veterans. Fittingly both skippers finished on the same gross points, Ricky just edging out Geoff on countback.
Likewise Gerald #02 and Col #23 were locked in a similar struggle finishing on identical points. By the slimmest of margins on countback Col just edging out Gerald to take second for the day.
By far the best result today though was from our newest member Justin #61. Finishing on identical points to Gerald and Col the countback got all the way down to the number of fifth places each skipper had and with just one more fifth place than Col, Justin takes home the chocolates this week. Well done and great sailing everyone! After nine races with two drops the final points were:
Dave on 39 points, Graham on 33, Geoff on 22, Ricky on 20, Gerald on 17 (countback), Col on 17 (countback), Justin on 17 (countback).
Close racing? Hell yeah!
Because the racing was so close and intense no-one had time to take any photos today. Duzzenmadder , we all had a crackin’ day @ da Duck and that’s what matters. But in the interest of entertainment I’ve cut and pasted some relevant ones from file
Thanks everyone for coming along and making it so much fun. Thanks also to Trouty for scoring and calculating handicaps, great job as always.
Next week it’s DF95s once more. Have fun everyone.

THE QUESTION IS………….. can dear ol Pete claim his spot on the podium after such a long absence The newbie Justin is out shining every one at the moment but inevitably his shine will dissipate and another will rise could it be Dave or the bank manager 20 20 is gunna be fun
