DF95 Racing today @ The Duck (Puddleduck Vineyard – Richmond Tasmania)

There was a gusty and swirling North-Westerly wind of about 5-15 knots today at the duck. While the thermometer said it was 14 degrees there was definitely a chill factor involved as some of the gusts were bitterly cold.  Ten skippers took to the pond all choosing their A rigs.

Racing proved tight with many races involving boats stacking up at the marks. The points tally board proved tight too with a tie for first, just 1 point separating the first three skippers and 4 points separating the first 5.

Jammy Jones took first place winning on count-back from Ian Hey. Well done to both. Having won early races Jammy sailed most of the day with a handicap of 45 seconds (and finished the day with handicap 65 seconds). Ian’s consistency is  noteworthy. (After discards all Ian’s results were between 2nd and 5th). Consistency definitely brings rewards in points events. Phil Jackman completed the podium just a point behind the leaders.

All skippers were keen to get to the hot coffee at the end of today’s sailing.
