Words by Ron C, scores by John S (Shorty) (with a few minor adjustments to the mathematics)

A variable wind day at the Duck today.

Although the forecast was for 14 knots, it was flat as a tack for the first few races.

We decided to have a short course to start off with, windward to buoy 1, 2, 3 and then back to the start line going outside the starboard race start buoy and around again to finish.  There was quite a bit of bark floating in the leeward side of the pond.

After the wind picked up and blew the bark away, we sailed the whole course for the rest of the morning.

So, a quiet day to start off with followed by increasing wind causing breaches and the ever popular wind shifts which the Duck is famous for.

Two new sailors today including Andrea sailing 1164 and Andrew sailing 78.  Andrew was a late starter joining us in race 8.  Both Andrea and Andrew look like they enjoyed the day with Andrew winning the last race (I think we need to keep an eye on him) and Andrea slowly improving her sailing and making it to the podium in the last race considering this was her first time at RC sailing.

Andrea is Ron’s daughter visiting mum and dad on her annual leave.  She will still be around next Tuesday and would very much like to give it another try.

The Gold medal goes to Stuart today with the Silver medal to Trouty and Bronze medal to Phil T.
