It was good news for Team Duck today as extra water now added to the pond gave good depth and less weed everywhere.

We understand yet even more water is to be added this week and that’s great news for the upcoming Tasmanian Summer Series Championships next weekend.

Although we had fewer skippers than usual, the light but steady breezes from the North and being able to use the pond’s maximum area made it a fabulous sailing day for everyone.

Gerald #02 a star at the Duck and so often a front runner unfortunately pulled out after race four with breakages, immediately showing us that he was no slouch as a PRO/scorekeeper either.

Don #99 showed good speed and a real talent for finding calm spots all over the course. Never the less, our unflappable Don took this all in his stride and enjoyed his sailing anyway.

The real contenders today were our Mike #64 and Geoff #80 both having a red hot go and ending the day on equal points. On countback both men had even numbers of Firsts and Seconds. By the slimmest of margins (one extra third placing), Geoff prevailed today, but it was always close.

And speaking of close. We had a stunning finish in race three where Pete#78 and Gerald #02 crossed the line with barely half a front bumper deciding the outcome. Outstanding!

Unlucky to pick up weed in races 4 & 7, Col nonetheless managed a second overall this week with a string of fairly consistent podiums.

Pink Bits was the stand out performance machine today and Pete #78’s change to a V6 hull now showing true benefits (like not sinking).

With five firsts, two thirds and a last place drop, no-one could get near Pinky for speed and performance all day.

Well done Pete, this bodes well for your Entry in the Championships next weekend.

After 8 races with one drop, the final scores were:

Don on 37 points, Gerald on 33, Mike on 23, Geoff on 23, Col on 18 and our winner Pete on 11 points.

Congratulations everyone on another great day once more @ the Duck.

Great to see John Holbrook come out and join us for a few races. John works in tourism and is on call a lot this time of year.

Just a reminder to get your entries in for the Tasmanian RG/DF65 Summer Series Championships that are on next weekend.

No pics this week but there will be plenty after the Championships as our Media Guru Mike will be capturing it all.
