      Puddleduck Sailing – RG/DF65s

      22/10/2024

A wonderful spring day greeted 15 skippers at Puddleduck Vineyard today, with a nice northerly breeze between 0-3 knts and temperature reaching low – mid twenties.

Sailing was very gentlemanly like today with little barging at marks (that I noticed 😊) which was great to see. Sometimes it is better to go out wide than to get mixed up at the buoy rounding eh. Penalties were being completed in most instances however a friendly reminder to all, that if you do infringe, please complete a 360, it isn’t sheep stations that we are sailing for, we are there for the sailing and social enjoyment and hopefully a podium place or two.

Ten races were completed today with top honours in the combined classes going to Stuart Harris (1 race win) on 23 pts, 1 point ahead of Col Johnson (2 race wins) with 24 pts. Third place went to Mr Consistency, John P who didn’t score a race win with 39 Pts. It should be noted that only 4 pts separated 3rd place to 6th place, well sailed to all skippers, great close racing 😊.

In the DF only class, Col (Ret Admiral) was the standout today with 16 Pts which included 4 race wins. It was suggested by an anonymous skipper that he should have been drug tested, well sailed Col, you certainly had a day out 😊. The next four places were only separated by 3pts, with Fab taking out second place on 29pts with Bloody Geoff taking out third place (yes Bloody Geoff 😊) on 31pts.

Just a reminder this Thursday (Show Day) there is a DF invitation day at Risdon Brook Dam, 10am button press for DF65s, BBQ lunch ($2) at midday, with DF95s commencing at 1 pm

See you all next week at the duck for another DF95 sail day.

      Hi Bodge,

Great write up and it did appear that everyone was enjoying the sailing in the warm spring weather today.Β  You took some great photos as well πŸ‘

I heard that the DF Invitation day at Risdon Brook Dam for DF65’s is A sail rig.Β  Sailors should make sure they take along that sail.

I thought I’d get a bit of practice with my A rig today against the A+ rigs in preparation for Thursday. Definitely pushed me down the list but was still very enjoyable sailing.
