It was a very nippy morning at Puddleduck vineyard and those who did not choose hat and gloves had made a serious wardrobe error! Despite the chilly start the sun was shining brightly and the racing was hot and so as soon as we got sailing things warmed up a bit.
The wind held at a consistent two or three knots from the North West and a course using a ‘2-1-4’ triangle worked well as it provided a good upwind leg where genuine choices had to be made. And it was always hard to pick. The west side of the pond looked a bit dozey but often surprisingly good pressure and lifts could be found there. Sometimes it worked well to do a hitch straight over to that side but other times the Eastern side proved best. Good decisions could win you plenty of places today.
The fountain was definitely a ‘feature’ of the course today as it always seemed to be in the way. Fortunately there were no strandings, on the fountain at least, and in fact only one buoy snare today too (Trout!) so – well done skippers!
On a day when there were plenty of skippers ‘in-the-hunt’ third place overall went to Richard Wylie after a points count back with Trout. Second went to John Cole-Cook with two race wins on his sheet. Lisa took out overall honours today finishing the day with five podium finishes including two wins and two points clear of John. Congratulations Lisa, John and Richard.
The hot coffee went down well today.

Definitely you need a nickname to sail at PD Richard! Nominations are: Wylie Cyotee, Wylie Fox or Wylie Tiles. You chose or we will!
