There was a severe weather warning for damaging winds out for today and so I headed to Puddleduck half expecting to just have a coffee inside with the skippers. I certainly didn’t expect so many brave starters.
Ten skippers were there and we all decided on B-rigs though a C-rig would have made good sense too. The wind was a swirling North-Wester and you really needed to be on your toes to keep the boat heading in the direction that you wanted it to go. One of the biggest problems was boats going AWOL and getting washed ashore during the time between races while we were attending to the clerical duties of finishing and handicapping. Surprisingly we managed to get through ten races, and most skippers finished all ten too.
Special mention today goes to Dave Poon who won race 4. A really great effort given the heavy conditions and the fact that the race was early in the program and so most of the skippers were on the same handicap. Dave has shown a lot of grit sticking in this sport and has shown heaps of improvement over the last couple of months. Congratulations Dave.
Third place overall went to Bodge who finished the day really strongly.
Second was taken by Jammy Jones. We welcomed Jammy back to the fleet today after three or four months away in Queensland. Jammy has been sailing both 65’s and 95’s on the Sunshine coast over his break. He has not lost any of his form pealing off emphatic back-to-back race wins straight of the bat today.
Today’s winner was Trout with a really consistant performance today. (Trout’s two discards were both 4th places). Congratulations Trout!
In all it is good to finish a day like today without much damage done.

Dear Mr Frog (CEO TOP GUN FLIGHT SCHOOL / sailing section?)
it is obvious Poonie has enjoyed proper instruction from The Duck skippers (as mentioned first in his reply), with so many visits to canal gone to waste with no rules, no instructions. ….. He has obviously seen the light and listened to us knowledgeable skippers at the duck. 😂
you too could improve with a few rules of the pond, not all are enforced , anytime you wish to visit The Duck where real sailors sail. Unlike the TGFS we don’t charge….. just sayn

well you ol dodger china is a gentleman so its natural that he thanks the older gentlemen first and it is true as you say some rules are necessary like starting at the same time as others …sorta your eye sight must be playn up for did i not say china has been groomed by the best from the floaters group or did you conveniently omit that in your reply and add your own misleading reply and in conclusion TGFS sailing section does not charge we ask for donations for SAVE THE GREEN TREE FROG ……………………………………………………………………………………………………….just sayn
