Over the past week or so I’ve been experimenting with a Sparrow V3 Pro flight controller.
I have assisted Kermit in the past with the V1 & V2 Sparrow FC’s and they always seemed to work fine.
At the moment it is virtually impossible to get a SpeedyBee F405wing (or mini) so I was looking for something else to use for RTH in the recently rebuilt 3D printed Zero (don’t want to lose another one !!).
I haven’t test flown the V3 Pro yet but bench testing all checks out ok.
The Good things & the Not So Good things.
The V3 Pro is nice and small (33 x 25 x 13), weighs 16.5gms, can run on 2S to 6S and will handle 100amps max and supports 8 control channels.
The V3 Pro is relatively cheap, comes supplied with a GPS module, all the leads you may need and a manual that while not great, is adequate (there is a better manual on line with more detail).
The V3 Pro when connected to an ELRS receiver outputs 23 channels of telemetry, most of which can be read by the iNav luascript and displayed on the RadioMaster TX16 (and no doubt the Jumper T16). The telemetry can also very easily be programmed into the built in Edge TX telemetry screens of the TX16. I’ve currently done both to see which works best.
The not so good (unless you have plenty of old FPV gear laying around) is that the only way to program the V3 Pro is via the OSD.
You need to hook up a video transmitter to the V3 Pro (no camera required) and receive the V3 Pro OSD on some type of video display. Once you get this all working, programming the multiple options of the V3 Pro is relatively straight forward.
I may have more to say once I actually fly it but overall it looks like it could be another good (and cheap) addition to our Flight Controller menagerie.

Update on the SpeedyBee F405 Wing (and Wing Mini)
Whilst the SpeedyBee branded FC’s are currently still in very short supply and generally around $AU 100.00 when you can find them, it turns out that the CoreWing branded FC’s are in fact SpeedyBee’s re-branded for the Chinese market.
Checking their specs the only difference I can find is it appears as if they may be the Version 2 which has a few upgrades from the original & currently they are priced at under $AU 60.00 and available.
