Well I was put in an awkward position today. I had a phone call from the green frog suggesting that Animal should win this week’s video or else the Animal will break and eat Kermits legs. So… what to do, after looking at both videos, both had their good and bad points, so I think the trophy should go to the Sinker for the video he thought about submitting, as his videos are of a high quality.

Hope this saves your legs Kermit, but I’m sure they would be tastety when fried with some garlic butter.

in reply to: ITS A BIG DAY ON THE CANAL #20737
        GG

Sailing at the Lauderdale Canal today had all the ingredients of a classic club morning: light-hearted banter, a touch of drama, and just enough breeze to keep things interesting. The water was alive with small ripples early on, reflecting a sky that promised a decent session, even if the fleet numbers were a little thin at first.

The day began with a visit to the Wheelchair Mob end of the canal. It was, by all accounts, almost a non-event—though not for lack of enthusiasm. Just two brave skippers had their boats on the water, quietly defying the calm and flying the flag for the early shift. There’s something admirable about that kind of dedication. While the turnout may have been modest, the commitment was not. The pair made the most of the conditions, testing trim and tactics, and setting a relaxed but determined tone for the day.

But the real spectacle unfolded at the opposite end of the canal. That’s where the action was—where spray flew, hulls heeled, and reputations were put on the line. Scotty, Kemit, and GG took to the water with intent, carving up the waves in fine style. The breeze had freshened just enough to make things lively without tipping into chaos, and the trio wasted no time in pushing their yachts to the limit.

Scotty was in particularly sharp form, reading the gusts beautifully and threading his way through the chop with precision. GG matched him tack for tack, the two of them locked in a friendly but unmistakably competitive duel. Their boats sliced through the canal like they were on rails, each skipper seizing every puff of wind and making it count. It was sailing at its most enjoyable—skillful, spirited, and just unpredictable enough to keep everyone watching closely.

And then, of course, there was Kemit.

True to tradition, Kemit once again found himself making an unscheduled visit to the bank. Whether it’s an uncanny attraction to shallow water or a bold interpretation of the racing line, he managed to run aground yet again. The sight of him wading out to retrieve his stranded yacht has become something of a weekly feature—equal parts comedy and commitment. Shoes off, trousers rolled, he trudged into the canal with good humour, rescuing his craft and returning to the fray as if nothing had happened.

To his credit, Kemit’s contributions didn’t end there. In a moment that captured the spirit of the day, he also made a generous effort to retrieve a little girl’s net from the bottom of the canal. It was a small act, but one that didn’t go unnoticed—proof that even the most frequent visitor to the mud can still be a hero.

This week’s video was another superb production, thanks to three of the finest cameramen around. The footage captured every tack, splash, and grounding in glorious detail. While all involved deserve praise, the award this week surely goes to Scotty and GG for their on-water brilliance, with a well-earned mention to Kermit—not only for his editing skills, but for maintaining his remarkable streak of running aground with unwavering consistency.

All in all, another memorable day at the Lauderdale Canal—where the wind, the water, and a few determined sailors combined to put on a show worth watching.

Well this is a close call between the Videos presented today, but on this occasion the trophy goes to the Hoppy and coming second is the Sheep Shagger with Kermit third. Well done to you all.

But if the Sinker had submitted a video I’m sure he would have won.

Well here we go, another week gone and at least we have 2 videos here to make a decision on. I would like to give this week’s video award to …….Scotty AkA Fruit Loop  for him taking control of the Sinkers camera and giving us the inside view of their boats as well as his excellent commentary .

I would also like to thank the wheel chair mob for taking care of the Frog and rescuing his boat.

Well, looks like Sinker has gone Secret Squirrel mode with his surveillance video, well done there Sir. So I guess you are this week’s winner of the video contest. And yes you caught us out, getting inside info from one of our spies in your network.

Sailing at the canal always promises a story, and this week’s outing at the Lauderdale canal jetty did not disappoint. Kermit arrived early, keen to make the most of the conditions, only to be confronted by the now-infamous wheelchair mob already occupying prime launching territory. Clustered together at the jetty like a defensive barricade, they eyed the arriving sailors with suspicion. After a brief but tense exchange, Kermit made it clear the jetty was not theirs alone. A few well-chosen words and a thinly veiled threat of organized resistance were enough to persuade them to roll on and relocate, much to their obvious annoyance.

Reinforcements soon arrived in the form of GG, whose presence added weight to the claim on the water. With the jetty secured, preparations continued and sailing finally commenced. The air was cool and sharp, biting at fingers and ears, but a steady, reliable breeze flowed down the canal, setting up ideal sailing conditions. Boats slipped smoothly onto the water, cutting clean lines as they tacked back and forth, sails full and obedient.

Peace, however, was never going to last. A short while later, two of the wheelchair mob’s henchmen returned, advancing with theatrical menace while waving their transmitters from the safety of their chairs. They loitered at the edge of the action, heckling and posturing, clearly hoping to disrupt proceedings. Their efforts escalated when one of them attempted to push Kermit toward the water’s edge in a clumsy act of retaliation.

That proved to be a mistake. The group reacted swiftly, pushing back both figuratively and literally. Faced with unified resistance and a complete lack of success, the henchmen beat a hasty retreat, rolling away in defeat and leaving the canal to the sailors once more.

As the afternoon wore on, the cold air began to win the battle. Fingers stiffened, concentration waned, and common sense prevailed. One by one, boats were recovered and the group retired to the shore, where warmth, laughter, and storytelling took over. Tales of the week were exchanged, victories exaggerated, mishaps improved upon, and plans made for future sessions.

With this week’s video competition attracting only a single entry, the result is beyond dispute. Congratulations go to the frog himself—Mr Kermit—who claims victory by default, if not by undeniable style.

After viewing both videos and weighing up options on who will pay the most for a win it looks like that Kermit is this week’s winner, plus it didn’t help Sinker distracting us causing 2 boats to run aground.

Good videos from all. Gadgets FPV landing even looked spot on, and it’s a pity Gadget and I couldn’t get closer to Predators plane. Great day flying for all minus one.
