But somewhere between optimism and the channel markers, things took a turn. The Lauderdale Canal, known for its narrow turns and lurking sandbanks, claimed another victim. Kermit’s boat gave a dramatic shudder before nestling firmly into the mud like a stubborn frog refusing to hop. Onlookers gathered, pretending not to laugh as Kermit waved heroically, insisting it was “just a test of the anchor.” The tide, unbothered by his pride, continued to fall, leaving the vessel perched like a misplaced garden ornament. Eventually, a friendly tugboat pulled him free — to cheers, laughter, and a new nickname echoing down the dock: Captain Groundhog.

When a cheerful visitor from Geelong introduced himself as “pretty new to sailing,” Kermit saw an opportunity to show off. Within minutes, however, the tables turned. The so-called newbie — armed with nothing but beginner’s luck and stubborn curiosity — was calmly correcting Kermit’s knots, trimming sails with uncanny precision, and reading the wind like a weathered old salt. “Back home we do it different,” the visitor said with a grin, though he’d clearly never done it at all. Kermit, half impressed and half exasperated, pretended to “test” the fellow’s technique while quietly copying every move. By the time they docked, the Geelong rookie had somehow become the day’s “expert,” and Kermit was left wondering if humility was part of the syllabus. “Good lesson today,” the visitor said, patting Kermit’s shoulder. “Anytime you want a refresher, mate — first one’s free.”
Every week brings a new blooper at the canal, but this week’s undisputed champion was Mr. Sinker. The video captured everything — the proud departure, the confident wave, and the slow, cinematic dip of the stern as the water claimed yet another ego. The crowd at the club replayed it endlessly, complete with commentary and slow-motion effects. Kermit, ever the self-proclaimed film critic, presented the “Golden GoPro Award” to Mr. Sinker with exaggerated ceremony: a tarnished propeller mounted on driftwood. “For services to comedy and maritime education,” Kermit declared as applause erupted. Mr. Sinker, dripping and grinning, took a bow. The trophy might have been a joke, but the laughter was genuine. As the evening sun dipped below the masts, someone raised a toast — “To Mr. Sinker, and to all who float… at least for a while!”

Under GG’s patient instruction (and occasional eye-roll), Kermit eventually refloated the boat — a little wiser, a little muddier, but still in good spirits.
Just as the laughter settled, the morning took a more distinguished turn with a visit from the ever-respectable Mr. Sinker. Arriving in his usual quiet and composed fashion, he brought an air of calm authority to the scene — a stark contrast to the earlier chaos. Mr. Sinker admired the day’s sailing efforts, shared a few pointers of his own, and was, as always, generous with his encouragement.
Later in the clubhouse, the weekly video awards were announced, adding a touch of friendly competition to the day’s events. This week’s Video of the Week went to Mr. Sinker, whose crisp footage, excellent editing, and smooth narration set a new benchmark for quality. His video perfectly captured the beauty of the canal and the camaraderie among the sailors, earning well-deserved applause from everyone present.
Kermit, meanwhile, took the Runner-Up spot. While his video showed promise, his well-known tendency to be a sore loser surfaced once more — though mostly in good humour. To keep the peace (and the fun) alive, the committee decided that Kermit would instead receive the Picture of the Week award, recognising his knack for capturing that perfect shot, even if his sailing skills still need some fine-tuning. All in all, it was another unforgettable morning at Lauderdale — laughter, lessons, and a little light-hearted rivalry on the water.
Sorry Mr Sinker, yes you do get the picture of the week award, still getting over my reunion with my yacht.
Well as I said I’m in debt too the frog so without and other bullshi# this week’s winner is Kermit followed closely by the Sinker

Yes I have been a bit slack today about judging, Ive been waiting to see if the frog was going to submit a video or not, but I guess it was too cold and windy for him to come out from his pond.

Good job Mike. The only thing the elevator arm should be made of pla. If you check the text in the stl file it will tell you.

Kermit you are right about life being interesting. That’s what’s our hobbies are all about, 80% of the time repairing and 20% flying planes or sailing.

Well I guess this week’s winner is Mr Frog for his efforts of braving the strong winds at the canal today, and a notable mention to the Sinker for his photos editing of the frog on the jetty, the only thing is the jetty is missing the do not swim sign, a small oversight there but well done there.
