Great footage and some carnage. Ive had 3 days minding my boat as a big typhoon skirted by. Some marina damage but not near my boat and I put out so many extra mooring lines. Now have a few days respite before the next typhoon. So thats also why no flying videos from me in Philippines. But it gives me the time to enjoy your footage. I have a Dumas Tiger Moth balsa kit to build in the typhoon /rainy season here. I will get into 3D printing when back in Hobart but could be another 18 months here.

Glad you have calm seas there. Here in Subic we are a month into Typhoon season and 2nd of the season is just starting to affect us with the heavy rain just started. As usual I will sleep on my boat if it gets windy but this one is vectoring more north so hopefully I can stay at my condo with the wifie as its my birthday in 2 days time. So also no flying here this week. And the road to the flying club is still closed for over a week from affect of last typhoon so that is a problem. But I do have a Dumas balsa  kit Tiger Moth to build on the rainy days here.

Also dusted off my drone today. Image of our condo and footage of Bataan coastline about an hour drive from here. We have anchored a couple of times at the Nuclear Power Station at end of footage as its not commissioned.

3 of us went flying yesterday here in hot Philippines once the ultralights finished flying. Ive got 2 planes now and someone is giving me a small Tiger Moth soon to finish and fly. I ended up getting the Radiomaster TX12 transmitter. We are thinking of renting  a RV and going to Joe Nall fly in in S Carolina next year. I just paid for 2 years more retirement visa so cant see me back before then! Also still enjoying sailing here. Went out on Saturday and saw 6 A10s take off from the local airfield for more joint exercises. We are the nearest US Navy base to Taiwan. nb the grass airstrip the below video is from is a former Kamikaze strip from WW2.

That Sonic 64 should be good for flying around trees as sometimes my prop would get caught on twigs that were hard to see thru analog goggles. Has anyone gone HD FPV yet? I cant do FPV here seeing as we share a field with ultralights. Weather is back to 34 degrees and sunny so sailing more than flying. Rainy season will start soon though.

Was that the Sinker taking out another plane in the sky? As it happens we flew here in Philippines yesterday in 33 degrees C. I only got brief footage as my camera was not charged. The guy flying the gas helicopter also flies full size planes and helis and has even flown Marcos the President here around. He has offered to give me lessons in the RANS S12 ultralight as I have only flown the Quicksilvers so far. Here is a snippet from Saturday and my Quicksilver flight from 4 years ago. I am still sailing around 1 day a week here too. Wind is less this time of year so sailing is slow but means I can fly my drone from the boat again.

Who is Cecil De La Mare ?

    1. Mike Both new printed planes look great. Gliders dont need as much pitch as dont fly fast but you keep the diameter for good climb rate. So 8 x 4 or 7 x 4 may be better.
    2. Cubs usually have 2 external wing struts which will make it look scale and strengthen the wing.
    3. I have 2 planes now in Philippines but its start of rainy season and also 3 active volcanoes that have just woken up. So no flying for a while.
    4. Is Scott our new president yet?

We have our first super typhoon for the season heading our way for next week with 260kmh winds but in Subic we will just get the rain and waves. There are some great videos on youtube of Joe Nall 2023 fly in in USA. In particular I like this 1 to 1 scale plane and think the pilot looks like Gadget Ron!

    Hi Ricky

Yep the standard of flying is high here. They seem to focus on 3D and pattern flying. The big guy flying the red yellow and blue monoplane is ex F16 and F15 pilot. He is a big guy and struggled to fit into F16 or F15 dual seat versions but liked the F15 single seat versions. Now he is chief instructor teaching Filipinos how to fly military predator style drones. Must be a world class rc pilot. I cant even imagine how to fly like he does but he said he used to do a lot of rc simulator time but hasnt touched a simulator for over a year.

Looks like Bumbebee went full up elevator which makes it almost impossible to recover from the stall spin. Need to put flight controller to manual so you can neutralise control surfaces.

I  went flying last Sunday so just put footage together of that. Included a marriage proposal so watch till the end…

Also here again my hovercraft footqge from yesterday if anyone missed it as i posted it in an old thread yesterday.

Well yesterday I got hovercraft footage in our local bay. The Marines call it a LCAC or Landing Craft Air Cushion and mother ship is USS Makin Island, a LHD or Landing Helicopter Dock. Has a lot of F35Bs and VTOL Ospreys on it. Keeping video unlisted so dont show to China or Russia, thanks.
