I can still remember (just) when I used to be that keen, rain, hail or shine we would be down there sailing regardless.

At least we were smart enough to sail from inside our cars long before the rain got that heavy.

Anyway, nice to see someone is keeping up the tradition of a Saturday Sail @ the canal, AND producing a video to prove it happened.

    Well done Mr Kermit.

    Posting Videos.

Would everyone please note (including Mr Kermit), you can’t post videos in the Calendar. They get deleted by the system, in fact ALL calendar entries get deleted after 30 days have passed, to cut down on storage requirements.

Great quality video Gerald. Digital is definitely far superior, just a shame about the content.  You need to get up & out a bit to find interesting content for that great camera.

Apart from the OSD its hard to pick any video degradation between the plane recording & the controller on the ground.

in reply to: Predators 3D printed Mini Cub #17385

Given that it’s over a year since I started to repair the Mini Cub (June 2023 till August 2024) I thought it about time to finish it (you know I can’t rush these things).

The first order of the day was to try & set up LW-PLA profiles for the recently acquired Bambu Lab X1C as I intend to sell the Artillery Sidewinder printer that the original was printed on.

Anyway, after a couple of failed attempts I got everything working & printed a new main wing, to replace the original broken one.

No real dramas with that, so onto the painting

Even got round to printing & installing the correct Logo (before I prang this one).

Hopefully ready to take to the skies again tomorrow, 14 months (almost to the day) from when it last flew (and died).

Well done with the video again this week Mr Kermit.

Nice to see there were no PC gremlins attacking you this week.

Only if you try and fly them all at the same time!!

The calendar is up for Friday.

I can do Friday, shouldn’t be too bad in the morning but a tad windy after lunch.

Then again its Tassie so anything could happen by Friday.

Looking forward to trying out the Beaver again.

Friday looks like it could be a bit windy but Wednesday doesn’t look too bad.

Hopefully we will get another flying day again soon.

The Beaver loose motor issue has been fixed (used nylock nuts this time) & I replaced the prop spinner as I think the original was a bit damaged and causing some vibration also.

Anyway all good to go again now.

Audio is there but very very low in volume, if you turn up loud on your PC you can hear it OK.

Overall another great video from Toad Hall Productions. Probably worthy of the Danger Mouse award.

After a mishap (walk of shame) on its maiden flight the DHC-2 Beaver “Harbour Air has been sitting in the corner of the hanger looking rather worse for wear for over 6 months.

With the current weather not conducive with flying it was time to start a few repairs.

Given that the entire section forward of the cabin was reduced to matchsticks, the motor shaft was bent, the firewall & the battery tray were destroyed I figured the first order of business was to replace the motor shaft. Lucky I had one in the spares box that fitted perfectly.

Next was to create a new ply firewall along with a stronger battery tray & motor mount frame.

That all went well so it was then on to designing & 3D printing a new motor cowl (original looked crap anyway) & a dummy 9 cylinder radial engine.

It is now all back together and ready to take to the sky again for it’s second (and hopefully better) maiden flight.
