I don’t think we will get any reprieve from the winds this week unfortunately. Hopefully once Show day has passed it will get better.
Finally, my 3D printed Zero is completed, apart from the motor (which should be here in the next couple of weeks).
I gave the entire plane a couple of coats of clear gloss Acrylic Enamel as this tends to toughen the LW PLA somewhat.
All servos are in and set up along with the PWM ELRS receiver etc. Once the motor arrives & is installed I can tidy up the wiring & she is ready for her maiden.
I modified how the wing servos fit, don’t like glueing them direct into the wing as 9gm servos are easily damaged & almost impossible to remove if glued directly into the wing.
I will install some servo protectors as well before flying.
My homebrew black logos have been installed in place of the red roundels
Hopefully she flies as good as she looks !!
You need to read the post, not just look at the pretty pics GG, that is exactly what I stated in the 4th paragraph !!, but yes it’s coming along great.
Just cut the windows with the vinyl cutter while waiting for the wing parts to print.
Just to differentiate from Ron’s Zero a bit more I have gone for black roundels with a white Z rather than the normal Japanese Red roundels.
Hopefully it will look OK.
Did notice it was turning better in one direction than the other but nothing too dramatic. Anyway all fixed now.

Well then it’s finished good enough for testing.
The original sails look & fit terrible but they will have to do if I want to get in the water this Saturday (weather permitting).
If all goes OK the new sails will be next on the agenda then a full strip down (again) and repaint.
After the kids took me out for a lovely Fathers Day breakfast, I headed home and got back into pressing on with the “Victoria’s Secret” build.
As you can see from the photos I finished the design & 3D print for the Boom Vang, It’s very similar to the new DF65 design (why re-invent the wheel?) just upside down.
The mainsail is now fitted (just a temporary old original one till I get round to new sails) and the sail-winch setup and functioning.
I will run a second line from the winch for the jib as having two sheets makes for easier adjustments. There will eventually be two bowsies fitted on the rear deck to allow for easy sheet adjustment.
In keeping with the minimum aloft weight possible I have used an IOM style crane for the back stay support & attachment of the main sail.
The next job will be to install the Jib and finish off the sheets etc. That should be done tomorrow if this wet weather keeps up.
Hopefully the bell crank for the rudder will arrive this week & then she should be ready for a test.
The boat is now significantly lighter (with most of the weight gone from the mast & rigging). The minimum racing weight (according to the rules) is 2.04 kg and even with my heavy 5 cell AA NiMH battery installed it only now just scrapes in at 2.0kg, hopefully with the rudder & the jib & a coat of paint, it will make correct minimum weight without any corrector ballast.
Time will tell.

A couple of minor additions today & “Victoria’s Secret” should be ready for rigging.
